P.U.P. reshuffles its executive

luke espat

An economic forum was held today between government and the private sector. We’ll have more on this shortly, but first the People’s United Party today released the appointees to the new executive. The news, however, is more about who has not made it on the list. But, firstly we note that the Fonseca executive has been reduced from thirty six to thirty posts; that includes twenty-eight members plus two co-chairs. Now, Mark Espat and Cordel Hyde, the two senior deputy leaders from the Albert and Lake I, did not make the cut as we had reported last week following a meeting of the former executive last Friday. The post of senior deputy leader has been abolished. Luke Espat, the former National Strategic Development Manager and Bill Lindo who was Research and Development Coordinator, have been fired and so has Hugh O’Brian who was the liaison for Civil Society and Social Partners. The three posts are being transferred to committee level. So while the five have been ousted, Florencio Marin Junior from the north emerges as deputy party leader to serve along with Mike Espat and Carolyn Trench Sandiford.

Rodwell Ferguson has been named as the party’s treasurer while Julius Espat and Jaime Briceño will co-chair as national campaign managers. Of note is that the post of Leader Emeritus has also been abolished; John Briceño and Said Musa are named as past party leaders. But the most interesting appointment is to the senate. Arthur Saldivar, who is generally believed to have been put up as place holder when the party was looking to replace John Briceño, has emerged as senator. Oscar Requeña, the standard bearer from Toledo West, is the other senatorial appointment. Lisa Shoman remains on the senate and is the director of communications; a post held by Narda Garcia who takes over policy and reform which Saldivar also co-chairs. There are other minor changes and for a look at the full executive, click here.

PUP done gan to hell, w/out Mark & Cordel they are a ship w/out a captain jejeje. And they say they are representatives of the ppl yet they treat the 2 persons who really represent the ppl and who the ppl have vote in consecutively………….can any current PUP minister say for sure dat he/she will win in di next general election cz i can assure u dem 2 can in my opinion

BelCap, nt because you have assured a seat means you disrespect the party. Cordel and Mark have disrespected the party. Mark was offered the leadershp on a golden platter. he reused without citng a single reason. Mark and Corderl do not hae the party’s interest at heart. They hae their own interest and think that they can do anything. Me thinks party better off withou them. Remember what granny did when the two rotten potatoe was in the bag. She got rid of the rotten potatoes and left the good ones. The whole bag was saved. The pup is bigger than the two. yes the could lose the elections without the two but so what look how many elections udp lost before they won their now super majority.

  4. me says:

Mark and Cordel no mean nothing good for the PUP in terms of pulling their weight and trying to get that party back together and pulling it back on its foot. He chickened out when the going got rough. And Cordel da falla di leeda, leeda. I see them as mischief makers playing to be part of the machinery and conveniently absenting themselves when their presence and support is needed. I guess they have other ambitions…. maybe forming another party.

  5. no game says:

What is Mike Espat doing up there?
I suggest that if Mark and Cordell are outlaws in the PUP they don’t belong there. What they should do is gather themselves with other popular PUP’s and form a new party and win some seats for the people int he next general election. The other PUP nor the UDP would want this. But the people do. MArk, in the hearts of the people you are already a leader. You did well for your constituency. Please relaise that the population has been split in two. We need a third party to give an opportunity to some of our very young emerging leaders in this party. Just…stop waitin and start acting.
