Gov’t vehicle responsible for 3-car accident

There is another vehicular accident that occurred over the weekend. This past Saturday, between miles twenty-nine and thirty on the Western Highway, a mishap resulted in a pileup involving three vehicles.   Thirty-year-old Lorencio Vanegas was driving his Ford Escort from Belize City to Belmopan after eight that night. He was accompanied by his wife Odelma.  The Cotton Tree couple and their daughter encountered a white Daihatsu Terrios with government license plates travelling in the opposite direction. Vanegas says that the Terrios came straight into his path and collided into him.  As a result all occupants of the car received injuries.  Odelma was temporarily trapped in the vehicle but she was rescued by Fire Department personnel.  She was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital while her daughter was taken to the Western Regional Hospital in Belmopan.  The driver of the white Terrios was also transported to Western Regional Hospital. But since the incident occurred at night on a heavily travelled road, there was no time for a clean-up and a third vehicle crashed into the bridge. Forty seven year old Marto Rodriguez says he was driving his pickup from Belmopan to Belize City and he could not avoid the two vehicles.  His passenger, Darlene Cole complained of pain to the head and the body.  No charges have been made in respect of the accident.

None of the news outlets in Belize know who was driving the government vehicle? It seems like a ghost was driving that vehicle since none of the media mentioned their name.

Why was the government vehicle even on the road on Saturday night? Personal trip on taxpayer dollars?

  4. me says:

Instead of having people remove their tints, the government should be enforcing people to have road markers in your vehicle. In other countries it is mandatory to have signs to put on the road if you break down, this could save lives. The police should have been responsible for marking the accident with flares or reflective signage.

You would be surprised to know that it might be one of ur ministers driving that GOB vehicle at night on saturday and dont think its working they’re working, no no.. thats what they get in office for. And its true that other countries make it mandatory to put traffic cones or something to say u’re in the way of traffic. Our roads don’t even have d sides marked, so at night if its raining u dont see a thing, very dangerous, but our govt is focused on other things, we dont matter, we can crash and die for all they care. GOB drivers r d worst, some of them dont even have license to drive.
