Couple’s home makeover was a STEAL

Evan Gardiner

A husband and wife from Far West Street are facing charges after they gave their home a full makeover with stolen household fixtures and appliances. At around ten-thirty on October thirty-first, sixty-eight year old retired nurse, Julia Castillo, arrived at her house in the Moho Bay area of Belize City and was shocked to find that it had been cleaned out by thieves. A total of twelve thousand five hundred and fifteen dollars in items were stolen.

The majority of those items, including a stove, refrigerator and washing machine, were later recovered from the residence of Evan and Patrice Gardiner, who were jointly charged along with Christopher McCoy Junior for Burglary and Handling Stolen Goods. McCoy was additionally charged with Committing a Mischievous Act for allegedly telling police that his name was Charles Martinez when he was initially arrested.

The trio pleaded not guilty to all charges and the prosecution objected to bail because police have strong evidence since they were found in possession of ninety-five percent of the stolen items. Magistrate Roberto Ordonez upheld the objection and all three were remanded to prison until November twenty-fourth. Police are still trying to locate two thousand dollars in stolen items that have not yet been recovered.

they should be sentence for a good while, if we don’t break the cycle of people buying stolen goods the thieves will keep robbing but if we stop those that buy hot stuff then the thieves won’t have nobody to buy it. charge them as thieves also, so they learn and others can get the sense of it.
