GSU nabs group for threatening witnesses

Karen Smith

In the courts, a group of court onlookers, all relatives of five men who are standing trial for murder, was detained on Tuesday evening near the steps of the Supreme Court building.  Karen Smith, along with seven others, reportedly congregated outside the courtroom of Justice Adolph Lucas where the trial of Brandon Smith, Leon Gray, Kenroy Humes, Deshawn Mena and Edwin Flowers was taking place. An anonymous caller reportedly tipped off the police officers that someone within the group was threatening witnesses.  Quick response led to their arrest; however, a search of the individuals during detention at the Queen Street Police Station led to the discovery of marijuana on Smith. This morning she appeared before Magistrate Roberto Ordonez where she pleaded guilty to the charge of drug possession and was fined two hundred dollars.  The others who were part of the group were later released for lack of proof that they threatened witnesses.  The trial of the men continued despite allegations that witnesses were being intimidated.  They are jointly charged for the murder of Randy Coye which occurred in the Lord Ridge Cemetery in October 2009.

David Galindo

Meanwhile, the GSU reports that twenty-six year old David Galindo, believed to be a reputed member of the Hot Point Crips in Santa Elena, was arrested and charged with drug trafficking today for the possession of two point seven pounds of marijuana.  Shortly before three o’clock this afternoon GSU personnel intercepted a bus traveling en route to Belize City from Belmopan where they searched a knapsack belonging to Galindo.  The drugs were found tightly packaged in four sheets of saran wrap.

It is so sad to see the families of individuals accused of murder support the terrible acts of these people who knowingly commit henious crimes. They are concerned with the life of their family member, but have no regard for the life of the person who died. There is such moral decay in the country, it is sad.
