Benquenos still mad about missing ambulance

Francisco “Trinidad” Mendez

For months, there have been complaints from Benque Viejo citizens over the absence of a basic health service that is otherwise available in other districts. The town’s ambulance is still missing even though their area representative, Erwin Contreras, is a senior government minister. Citizens of that municipality depend on kindness of strangers to transport victims to the hospital during emergency situations. A concerned resident spoke to News Five about the ambulance situation as well as to complain that also hopes that taxpayers won’t have to pay for the third ministerial vehicle that crashed in Cayo.

Francisco “Trinidad” Mendez, Concerned Citizen

“People are concerned here in Benque in reference to the ambulance because we have not seen it. Two; other people’s vehicles are being used for transport of people who have suffered accidents and things like that. And so people are very, very concerned here in Benque. The purpose for ambulance is to serve the community and I think the people need some sort of explanation from either the government or the representative or minister who serve the Cayo West Area. And so I believe that people should get an explanation. The minister from the Cayo West Area; he is my cousin, the Honorable Erwin Contreras and basically the vehicle has been destroyed—it’s not good for parts, but we haven’t seen it, but those are the impressions that people have out there as well also. But in reference to that and the concern of the people si that the vehicle has not been shown to the people, there is no report issued from either the minister himself and so basically again it refers to what we have a problem in transportation. If we have vehicles being destroyed our area—and these are expensive vehicles—we are not talking vehicles that are low-priced. These are vehicles worth over a hundred thousand dollars or fifty thousand dollars and above. And so people are concerned. They want an explanation and because of the problem with the ambulance that we have and now another problem arises with transportations. From what the people and tax payers money have put in and invested into our country and our communities.”

    You Benquenos got left !!!
Your ambulance is in the Cayo Benque road area at Joseph freight , 100% ok and complete!!! NOT DAMAGED AT ALL !!!
Take your cameras there , but do it now before they move it from there and hide it somewhere else !!!!

  2. O.H. says:

Yeah the situation needs to be dealt with but whats up with the”quenos” in our district names now?

  3. Rene Rodriguez says:

Trindad, please tell us why you are so interested in running for mayor in Benque. Is it because last time you you did and lost against Mr. Sosa the PUP paid the loan you had made to construct your house?

Why that jealousy against your cousin? Well I can imagine what kind of person you are if you even back stabbed you own brother Kendal but if you have the balls why don´t you run against Hon. Contreras and see what a trashing you will get.

  4. Rene says:

That ambulance is a state of the art ambulance but I guess Mr. Mendez can operate it and probably he would be a better driver than a our town mayor.
Let it be known that the ambulance was donated to our town because of the efforts or the Hon. Contreras but I guess people like Mendez can have one donated for our town also.

  5. Lucia says:

Politics aside, the ambulance was donated to the people of Benque. Is there anyone being trained as driver? There are so many people without jobs, i am sure that the same way the minister got the ambulance he can find someone out there who can be trained to operate the ambulance! Since we are at it, why doesn’t he also get a doctor stationed at the clinic 24/7?

  6. Diehardbelizean says:

Hey you reporters.. go and ask Nick Ruiz .. he is the mayor … he should respond to the people…. go to Erwin Contreras… he is the Area Rep and MINISTER.. they inaugurated with pomp and sweets for the people and again LIED to the Benquenos.

I was told they do want to pay and have NOT paid the man who brought the ambulance. It was suggested by a very good doctor that the van could be maintained by the S.I. Hospital but Nick refused. first he parked the ambulance in his yard.. then taken away shamelessly from there. Both Ruiz and Contreras are callados. Poor Nick has been infected by Callado Contreras.

but hmmmm, action time is coming next year and let me tell you a secret… BOTH are vacating office. Cayo West people are tired of those LIARS.

  7. Storm says:

Why isn’t it a crime to misappropriate government property?

And whoever is responsible will have blood on his hands when someone dies because the ambulance was “misplaced.”

  8. Hannah says:

Exactly I totally agree with Lucia! politics aside…Benque does really need a doctor at d clinic in case of any emergency and also d ambulance….instead of critizising mr. trinidad for running in politics and worrying bou wat bills he needs to pay we shud focus on how to improve our health facilities because at the end of d day..we all need a well established clinic with good doctors, nurses, medecine and emergency unit!
