B.D.F. investigation into 42 missing weapons on track

On October twelfth the B.D.F. reported that a cache of high- powered weapons has been stolen from the Belize Defense Force headquarters at Price Barracks in Ladyville. From two rooms within the B.D.F.’s weapons bulk store, thieves got away with twenty-two unserviceable M-sixteen A-one rifles, seven serviceable M4 carbine rifles, two unserviceable M4 Commander rifles, and eleven serviceable nine millimeter Berretta pistols. Earlier today News Five spoke to Brigadier General Dario Tapia who says that the B.D.F.’s investigation into the theft of the thirty-one rifles and the eleven pistols is almost complete.

Dario Tapia

“Whilst I want to speak on it, the reason I cannot speak too in-depth of it because whenever we start to charge anyone who will be held accountable. I will have to preside, so I will be judge, so I don’t really want to talk about it, suffice to say that we have concluded our own internal investigations and we have also concluded our own court of inquiry and base on those we are currently awaiting the Solicitor General’s advice on how to proceed. And I wish to leave it as that because as I mention, I want to give, whoever we gonna try a fair trial and I don’t want to comment further on it.”

News Five recently received a copy of the Whylie Report, which calls for suspensions of several ranking officers including: Technical Quarter Master, Sergeant Roy Flores; Force Field Officer Captain Damain Amaya and the Deputy Commandant of the Force, Javier Castellanos.

You should resign with shame and disgrace for being all around incompetent. Look at you, big and fat and out of shape for being a Light Infantry Brigade Commander, what a shame. After you resign the Government should charge you and your Deputy for inefficiency. Shame and disgrace clearly you were not the one meant to lead the BDF someone definitely pull strings for you it is so obvious now. I wonder how battle ready the BDF? An Ex General is now elected for the first time as the President of Guatemala. Do not try to bluff the answer to that question to the politicians because we know how much the BDF capability has declined under your leadership. Utter failure and you have no shame. DO THE HONOURABLE THING AND RESIGN.

  2. Orlando says:

I don’t think that Castellanos should be charge..If proper security was in place for the first point this could not have happen..and the next thing better screening of potential soldier for the new intakes

  3. Lovely says:

I totally agree with citizen above. Fof god sake do he honorable thing an resign. U r the leader of the military an look hw u look. I just hope u could run your b.f.t. an show your soldiers

The shape and size of a man has nothing to do with the fact that he is the most qualified to do the job. $#!% happens especially trying to oversee a bunch of BDF soldiers that are trying to make a quick buck. True that the security measures taken to protect and secure the weapons is highly inefficient but to go and downplay a man due to his size has nothing to do with the subject. If you know and can judge this man’s qualifications then say it. But he is to my knowledge overly qualified for the job
