Ministry of Public Service supports decision on police promotions

In light of recent discontent voiced by members of the Belize Police Department following the promotion of a number of officers whom they allege were unfairly elevated in rank, the Ministry of the Public Service and the Security Services Commission issued a press release clarifying those concerns.  According to the prepared statement, the commission is vested with the power of promotion, as well as that of function, which is assigned to Commissioner of Police Crispin Jeffries over lower level ranks including constables, corporals and sergeants.  The promotion of sergeant to inspector, on the other hand, is done with the direct involvement of the Security Services Commission.  Preferment is done through recommendations forwarded to the Commissioner of Police by a promotion board.  In this case, the commission says ComPol Jeffries complied with the regulations and that any appeal to his decision should be done before the Belize Advisory Council.  There are currently a hundred and ten sergeants in the police department with vacancies for fourteen inspectors.  An interviewing panel convenes from Tuesday to Thursday and it is expected to interview all sergeants eligible for promotion.

The Ministry should have responded earlier, and thereby prevented many of the persona attacks on the the channel 5 blog.

Real Bull…. people are being promoted who didnt even took the exam and those who failed are being promoted and those who passed are not, Who says that just a support from the public service are not in on that stupidness….they are all in cahoutz with it. Nothing strange people in the police department have been promoted from day one because of who they know.. its not the first time its happening

They are two list, the list that came out with the names of persons being promoted have been altered and tampered with by the Commissioner with the sole purpose of putting on names of persons who have kissed his @$$ during all these times, what a shame, it is an outright disrespect what the Commissioner did to those other well deserving Officers that passed the exam and was bypassed due to the fact that he wanted to please and rewarded those issers of his time is longer than rope, what a shame and disgrace…………………….l

lets concentrate on what the leader of the country has to say about our police. in his press conference he referred to them as “DEAD HEAD DODO BIRDS” imagine a dead head dodo bird is his body guard! if he is being protected by a dead head. i would want to believe that the person who is being guarded is the dead head . what u all think.

No matter how well they try to clean up this story, it still reeks of CORRUPTION from every angle. First of all, who are the members on the Board of Commission. I’m sure they are the same unethical people of ranks within the Police Dept and Belize Govt. No mention of curtailing the unfairness toward the disenfranchised officers, but a great deal of EXCUSES made for the corrupt process. I would like to see the removal of ALL corrupt Commissioners and Govt officials by electing them all out of office and replaced with positive driven, ethical and law abiding citizen. Commissioner Jeffries and Board of Commissions, shame on you. Prime MInister, I have my eyes on you as well. I am angry, disgusted and frustrated with the shenanigan going on in my country. Diane B.
