Punta Gorda man dies under suspicious circumstances

A Punta Gorda resident died under suspicious circumstances over the weekend. According to police, shortly before ten o’clock on Saturday night, they were informed that a body was on the road between miles thirteen and fourteen on the Southern Highway near San Marcus Village. The deceased man had multiple injuries and was later identified as twenty-nine year old Sebastian Mas, a farmer of San Marcus Village. Police investigations have revealed that thirty-seven year old Mathies Roberto Daires, a UB Lecturer from Cattle Landing Village, was travelling along with his girlfriend toward the dump area. Daires’ Honda Car hit the Mas, who was already lying on the road. On impact, the vehicle received damages on the front. The body was removed from the scene and transported to the PG morgue where it awaits a post mortem. Daires was detained and released, since Mas appeared to have already been dead when his car hit him.

Who certified that Mas was dead already when the vehicle hit him? A less fortunate driver would still be in jail pending investigation. The people in the system…………….

PEOPLE NEEDS TO BE REAL CAREFUL ON THE HIGHWAY.THIS AREA IS VERY DARK TOO AND IT IS A LONG FLAT STRETCH OF ROAD SO MOTORIST TENDS TO SPEED UP HERE.NOWADAYS WE DRIVERS NEED TO SLOW DOWN A BIT AND BE VERY CAUTIOUS.

you know it begs to wonder the extent as to how senile police behave at times. But in all fair and good judgement at least a post mortem should have been done before any release of Mas. I guess the officers in Punta Gorda are able to look at a man a say he was already dead,,,,without proper post mortem

Was the driver of the vehicle certified to pronounce someone dead ? I would think he was not certified to pronounce anyone dead. Drivers tend to speed on the highways, they need to drive with caution in community areas along the highways both during the daytime and nighttime. I am sure the post mortem result would turn up in his favour. Too bad corruption has seeped into every part of the justice system. Hopefully some sort of justice and closer is received.

If Mas’ body was already laying in the road, how is it that it caused damages to the front of a car? I would want to think that in such position, the vehicle would run over the body rather than bump into it thereby causing damages. I am no expert, I am just saying………..
