Pounds and pounds of marijuana

Garfield Flowers

On Thursday, police searches netted over forty-five pounds of marijuana and today the accused traffickers appeared in court. The biggest bust was at around eleven thirty a.m. at the home of forty-three year old Garfield Flowers on Johnson Street. There, the cops found thirty-eight and a half pounds of weed separated into eighteen packages. Flowers was charged along with thirty-two year old Philip Nicholas for Drug Trafficking. They appeared before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer where the court prosecutor objected to bail on the grounds that the police claim they have a very strong case against the duo and that the large amount of suspected cannabis must be taken into consideration.

Phillip Nicholas

Nicholas also has previous convictions for drug related offenses and records show that he still owes the court. But he told the Senior Magistrate that he has a family to provide for and that he can’t afford to lose his job because he was recently hired after eleven years of unemployment. Flowers also begged the court to grant them bail because he has a son to take care of. But the Senior Magistrate was not convinced and remanded them both into custody until December fifteenth when bail will be considered.

Kishane Geban

At about five-fifteen that same morning, police made another bust at the home of Kishane Geban on Fabers Road where they found another five pounds of weed. Geban was also arraigned late Thursday evening for Drug Trafficking. He was unrepresented in court and pleaded not guilty to the charge. Bail was offered in the sum of seven thousand dollars. Geban’s next court date is set for December fourteenth. Also on Thursday, police found eight pounds of marijuana in an abandoned lot in the Conch Shell Bay area. However, no one was in the area and no charges have been levied in this case.
