  1. javier solis says:

No, we must pass the ninth, as soon as the ninety days are up. This is pure fool to delay this bill any longer.

  2. fight for justice says:

I say no to the 9th amendment, it will give more power to dean barrow and he will become the Belize dictator….although he is behaving like it……we all see how govt’ is trying to control all the consultations at the peoples’ expense no matta what,AND GOB HAS DISRESPECTED THE COURTS OF BELIZE…. and it does not look transparent because it is the UDP that buys its supporters and tek them to rally for them and the rest that is against the 9th amendment are just cut off the mike if u speak against the govt’ of dean barrow, we want to have our democracy ALIVE,we no want a DICTATOR GOVT’……….dean barrow I say NO TO THE 9TH AMENDMENT.

  3. NO THE THE NINTH AMENDMENT says:

I SAY NO TO THE NINTH AMENDMENT!!!!!

    SEND IT TO A REFERENDUM

    SEND IT TO A REFERENDUM!!!!!

IF THE GOVERNMENT IS TRULY ABOUT NATIONALIZATION AND GOB CONTROL, WHY DID HE CONTRADICT HIMSELF IN THE HOUSE BY SAYING THESE COMPANIES SHOULD BE RUNNING ON LOW PROFITS AND EVEN BREAK-EVEN THEN TURN AROUND ON THAT SAME SITTING SAYING THAT INFOCOM OR THERE IS A BUYER INTERESTED IN 40% OF BTL, ARE WE SO IGNORANT TO BELIEVE THIS INFOCOM WILL BUY 40% OF A COMPANY THAT WILL SUPPOSEDELY BREAK-EVEN??? IN ADDITION, IF THE CABLES IN WIKILEAKS ARE WRONG THAT IT WASNT GOB INTENTION TO STAY WITH THE COMPANY, ANSWER ME THIS JAVIER SOLIS, WHY IS THE GOV PUTTING MAJORITY CONTROL IN GOB HANDS OR 51%, FORNICATING WITH INFOCOM FOR 40% IN BTL AND HOLD A 10% BLOCK FOR THE UNIONS?? THIS DOES NOT MAKE SENSE!!!! 40% + 10% = 50%, THAT IS MORE PERCENTAGE IN PRIVATE HANDS THAN IS REQUISITE TO CALL IT NATIONNAALIZZAAATIOONN!!! STOP SING FU U SUPPAA!!! THERE ARE ALSO SMALL SHAREHOLDERS THAT WILL TAKE THIS PERCENTAGE BEYOND 51% GOB CONTROL RENDERING IT A PRIVATE COMPANY. !!!! SAY NO JAVIER!! SAY NO!!! UNDERSTAND THE CONSEQUENCES, WHAT WE CAN AFFORD TO RISK AND WHAT WE WILL GET BACK. GOB SHOULD RATHER STRENGHTEN LAWS TO EMPOWER PUC TO DETERMINE WHAT DEALS WILL BE GIVEN TO THESE UTILITIES, SO THEY RUN EFFICIENTLY AND PROFITABLY FOR OUR BEST INTEREST!! DOING THIS WE KEEP OUR RIGHTS AND SAVE A LOT OF LITIGATION FEES!!!

  4. CEO says:

Javier you need to think! This law opens the way for other laws that will spin off this law to be very bad for Belize and Belizeans. One True test for any thing like this is to check how excited a politician is to pass it! If he or she is not willing to be patient and see it through there is usually a problem.

Good laws will never have problems to get passed! People are not fools. Most Belizeans are so political that they cannot think for themselves and would vote for anything their party puts forward.

This amendment is bad and has the potential to get worse!

  5. Belizean says:

GOB should be focusing more on Energy policies to reduce the acquistion cost of fuel, butane and the cost of power from generating facilities BEL is buying from. Give PUC more flexibility in micro managing these utilities or as an oversight control body to reduce inefficiencies. We will save a lot more if PUC does its job better, then we wont need to tamper with our constitution, nationalize, and save a heck of a lot of litigation fees and a black eye internationally. No to the Ninth Amendment Bill. This will not solve our economic needs!

No to the Ninth Amendment Bill!

  6. Someone says:

No to the Ninth Amendment Bill, Please send this to a referendum or call elections! the Consitution is not a place for governments to tamper with our rights when it comes to utilities. We havent debated whether it is beneficial in private or public hands. How will this benefit me when I am giving up my rights of freedom. This amendment is bad for Belize!!

  7. Kevin Bernard says:

I beleive that the Goverment of Belize has lots of other things that they should be addressing: Crime, Poverty Alleviation, Jobs, the Economy, Health reform and the list can go on. This 9th Amendment Bill as it is layed out, seeks to give the Government too much power and that is a dangerous road we are taking. The reason why I like many other object to this 9th Amendment is because it can have some serious implications down the road. it may not have to be this PM or Government (Eventhough they are already acting as Dictators), but a future Government can use these powers to change our very democratic way of life. I Kevin Bernard, Elected Councilor of the Orange Walk Town Council, say NO TO THE 9TH AMENDMENT BILL. Lets call a Binding Referendum or call ELECTIONS NOW.

  8. Kevin Bernard says:

I fully agree with you NO to the 9th. This Government has lot of other things they should be addressing, and this 9th amendment does not seek to address the issues for Crime, Jobs, Unemployment, Poverty, Corruption, Victimization. NO it rather is simply a show between the previous owners and this PM and GOB. This is not about real nationalization, but a farce to fool the Belizean People. This Government is simply clinging on to a string for support, and thinks the Belizean people are asleep. I say NO to the 9th Amendment. Call the referendum or call Elections NOW!

  9. Kevin Bernard says:

Gov’t need to focus on the issues affecting our Country. Crime, Poverty, Unemployment, Health Care, and many other social ills, other than tampering with our constitution. This 9th Amendment will not seek to address any of the above and thus I say NO TO THE NINTH. Our Constitution should look at strenghtng people rights and freedoms and this amendment can create doors for mischief and some real damning situation in the Future. I Kevin Bernard, elected Councilor of the Orange Walk Town Council say NO to the 9th Amendment. Lets call the referendum or call Elections NOW!

  10. rod says:

belize ina dirtbox and this gov. the worry bout stupidness out barrow just admit that you are a looser and a total failure at this job and leave the poor belizeans alone to live the lives they were meant to live

  11. Steve says:

Javier Solis sings for his supper @ Barrow’s banquet. No- to the 9th amendment. It’s pure foolishness to pass it after the 90 days. Why hurry? It should go to a referendum. If the 9th is so good as Barrow, Javier, and ACB (barrow) people are saying, why are they afraid to send it to a referendum? The 9th is a very high risk for Bz.! Free thinking Belizeans can’t accept this risk. Let democracy prevail.
