Living Hope’s dream now a reality; school gets new building

Living Hope Preparatory School is a non-profit organization that caters for at-risk youths. That group includes first time offenders, students that failed the PSE and did not move on to high school as well as students that have been expelled from either primary or secondary school. It’s a second chance for the young people to get an education and change the paths of their lives. But for years, Living Hope had been operating in a cramped space at the City Center that was very much in need of repairs. Today Principal, Francisca Lacayo was delighted to announce that the school has relocated to a much larger building of its own and they have the Atlantic Bank to thank for it.

Francisca Lacayo, Principal, Living Hope Preparatory School

“Yes, we were located under the City Center for many years and then this building was donated by the Atlantic bank to the school and we are very thankful for that. Now our doors are open and we are still under renovations but the classrooms already open and the classes are on as usual.”

“So you have room now to take on more students.”

Francisca Lacayo

“Yes, we have available space for anyone who wants to come, ages twelve to eighteen. We will also have adult classes starting January and currently we are also starting English as a second language course next week Friday.”

“So this new building has also given you an opportunity to expand your services.”

Francisca Lacayo

“Yes and we are very enthusiastic and ready to work.”

“So how can interested persons get in contact with you?”

Francisca Lacayo

“You can call 207-0139 or you can come to Maskall Street on Raccon Extension.”

“Is there anything else you’d like to highlight about the school itself or the move?”

Francisca Lacayo

“I would like to call on all those individuals that are on the streets without an education, don’t stay without an education because these days it is an asset. So our doors are open and those parents that have children and maybe they have given up and said oh there are no more chances for you, there is a second chance for them at Living Hope.”

Living Hope has two divisions. The first year class is a literacy course while the second year class prepares students for high school and gives them an opportunity to re-sit the Primary School Examinations.
