14 and 16 year old in Court for gun possession charges

Two minors appeared in the Belize City Family Court on Wednesday to face charges for gun possession. The first to be arraigned was a fourteen year old student who police say was busted on Tuesday with a point twenty-five pistol shortly after thirty-four year old Guy Fuller Junior was fatally shot inside his home on Banak Street. The minor had no legal representation and was accompanied only by a relative in court. He pleaded not guilty to the charge Kept Firearm without a Gun License and has been remanded at Belize Youth Hostel.

The other minor is a sixteen year old of a Southside address. He was sentenced to one year in prison for keeping an imitation firearm after a bust on April second of this year. Although the minor had no previous conviction, he was imposed the jail term because the mandatory sentence for a minor convicted on any firearm offence is one year. The minor had been on remand since the discovery in April of this year.

A young man was condemned for may years in prison for mugging an old man for on 7 cents. That is the way it should be done in Belize!!! its not the amount of money but the act done!!! Its not ruining a young man life for a mere 7 cents but taking a criminal out of the streets who prey on elderly. If judge had mercy, he would have gotten away and repeat the same or bigger offense Lock them up in prison!!!!
