Businessman Rhett Fuller a wanted man once again

While that investigation is being played out on a farm, the murder of a US citizen is being played out unsuccessfully on two continents for the past thirteen years. On August ninth 2011, the Privy Council dismissed Rhett Fuller’s appeal of an extradition request by the United States government.  Fuller is wanted by federal authorities in connection with the murder of Larry Miller which occurred in Miami, Florida in 1989.  The forty year old businessman returned to Belize in 1990 and it took eight years for the US to seek his repatriation.  Fuller has since been arrested on several occasions, was granted bail and continuously fights to maintain his freedom by exhausting both local and international justice systems.  At the onset, he was being defended by Kirk Anderson, later by attorney Dean Barrow and most recently by Senior Counsel Eamon Courtenay.  Despite his fate now being in the hands of Foreign Affairs Minister Wilfred “Sedi” Elrington, News Five has learned that the Supreme Court Registry has filed an application for his arrest once again. On August tenth, News Five sat with the Fullers, Rhett and his wife Ann, to discuss the very real prospect of an extradition to the US.

“Your husband is now at the mercy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs subsequent to the Privy Council handing down its decision on Tuesday.  He has also exhausted the entire judicial system.  What’s to happen if the minister were to proceed with is extradition?  Are you prepared to revisit or challenge that particular decision in court?”

Well at this point, you know, its just occurred and were just, you know, clearly very overwhelmed with the whole scenario but I wouldnt say that we are prepared to do this or to do that because clearly were just taking one thing one step at a time, you know.  But what we definitely will do is we will leave no stone unturned.  We will go and do whatever it is, whatever it takes for us to do so that we can at the end of the day say we have done our best.  As it pertains to the honorable minister, as a wife, as a mother and as a Belizean I am just appealing to him to be very careful when he does the stroke of his pen because it has great power.  And as one of my good friends just told me today she said with that stroke of that pen that man can change your entire life.  He can change your life, your husbands life your childrens life.

When it comes to me I will ask the minister to make a decision based on what my value is here in Belize, that I employ many people.  That Ive been a good citizen; I dont have a police record, theres been no arrests [and that] basically Im a productive person here in Belize.

Hi Brett, As you know, the crime for which you are charged in the USA has no statute of limitation, which mean, that you will forever be a wanted man by the USA. Even if the Minister refuse to extradite you it dosen’t mean that its over for you. I realize that its a tough choice for you to make, but I would advise that you go to the American Embassy and turn yourself in and throw yourself on the mercy of the U.S court, of course with some legal assistance. You have fought a good fight, but you will not win this one. No one like to surrender their God given freedom, but life is full of paradox. Ask God for strenght for you and your family to deal with horrible situation you all find yourselves in. PEACE.

If you didn’t do anything then go and set things straight but if the us embassy is involved then you are gone because if money is involved then this useless corrupt pm and gov. Will sell you for even 10 pieces of silver they are all traitors to their country and have no national pride so good luck you Betta hope the us gov. No the offer money.

Note that he says what a productive Citizen he is. He doesn’t say anything about the person he murdered in the States who might have been a productive citizen too, Enough is enough. Send him back to face his charges at last.

  4. islander says:

Send him back to face his fate for the crime he either committed or was involved in.

  5. Elton says:

The arresting officer and the person named in the Privy Council judgement as coming to Belize for interviews with Fuller is Det Ed Hill of the North Miami Beach Police Department. He was the subject of an internal investigation for professional misconduct twice. The case was very similar to Fuller’s case, involving a murder and the main suspects fleeing the country. Once again, very interesting reading.

The most important question is, did you commit the crime? If you didn’t, go to USA, hire a good US attorney, give him all the facts regarding where you were at the time, what you were doing, etc., win the case, & come back to Belize & live happily ever after. After all, THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE!

I PITTY NO ONE CAUSE IM POOR AND I KNOW IF ITS WAS ME WHO DID SUCH ACT I WOULD HAVE DEAD ALREADY OR THORWN TO JAIL TO ROOT….

  8. Elgin Martinez says:

British Belizean: You’ve got no prove that he committed the murder. Also why havn’t you all requested that the American woman that trafficked so many Belizean kids be extradited to Belize to face charges?Stop the double standard.
