Caribbean Broadcasting Union AGM sights La Isla Bonita

The forty-second Annual General Assembly of the Caribbean Broadcasting Union (CBU), of which Channel Five is a member, is set to commence at the Coco Beach Resort in San Pedro on Wednesday.  Media houses from across the region have flown in to attend the three-day gathering to discuss the current state of affairs within the industry.  Belize is, for the third time since joining the union in 1991, hosting the event which will be opened by Prime Minister Dean Barrow.  Veteran broadcaster Stewart Krohn, who founded Great Belize Productions twenty years ago, will be inducted into the CBU Hall of Fame.  The CBU was formed in 1970 with the purpose of promoting the dissemination of broadcast information for radio and television to its member countries.  The opening ceremony will be aired live at nine-thirty a.m. on Channel Five and will also be simultaneously streamed via www.channel5belize.com.
