Galen University launches new scholarship initiative
The first master’s degree graduating cohort of Galen University has formed an organization to offer a complete scholarship opportunity to a needy high school student interested in pursuing tertiary education through the institution. It is called GIVE, Galen Initiative for a Valued Education and it is spearheaded by Joel Cervantes. This morning the program was officially launched at the Belize Institute of Management.
Joel Cervantes, Program Coordinator, PMBA Program
“G.I.V.E, Galen Initiative for a Valued Education is a capstone project as was mentioned earlier in the press conference where we’re aiming to give a scholarship to both secondary or tertiary level for one or two students as we go along. This is a first of its kind, we are the first graduating cohort in a masters degree program for Galen and the contributions that we get, we will also have activities that we will make and then have or create a fund under Galen and it will be under an NGO, registered as a non-governmental organization. And this will be for one deserving student as was mentioned who cannot afford it financially but is also a bright and upcoming student. Whether the student decides that they want to go into law, a doctor, whatever it is at least at the [secondary level or tertiary level] we will be able to give them the foundation not at only the high school level but we want to take them all the way to their, at least to the undergrad program for a masters degree.”
The graduating cohort is comprised of students who are majoring in Professional Masters in Business Administration at Galen University.Email This Story
