French tourists free after bomb prank on plane

A sixteen year old French tourist and his mother are tonight both free to roam the Jewel following a prank pulled while onboard a flight en route to Belize from Atlanta on Monday morning.  The minor reportedly wrote the word ‘help’ on an immigration form and on its reverse drew what appeared to be an atomic cloud similar to the explosions that leveled the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan during the Second World War.  The illustration, intended to be a practical joke, caught the attention of a flight attendant, who immediately reported to the plane’s pilot that something was wrong on Flight 4345.  He alerted the airport authority in Belize which then summoned the relevant law enforcement agencies for assistance.  While the aircraft landed safely at the Philip Goldson International Airport it was quickly boarded by B.D.F. bomb expert Lieutenant Colonel David Jones who later declared it safe from any explosive devices.  The teenager, a student of Rodier, Paris was taken into police custody, questioned and released without charges being pressed.  It is of note that terrorist threats onboard domestic and international flights carry severe penalties elsewhere in the wake of 9/11.

Everyone seems to do as they please in our Country.Had a Belizean teenager did this on a plane heading to the US,he would have been charged as a terrorist.Stop the double standard what is good for the goose is good for the gander.

  2. Disgusted! says:

This is an OUTRAGE! If any belizean had tried this $hit in another country in this day and age of terrorism, he would have been subjected to intense interrogation by Interpol, the F.B.I., his entire family history searched, be put on the list of international terrorists to watch, be slandered all over the international media and probably end up in prison for a thousand years, etc. etc. etc…but anyone can come to Belize, violate our laws and get away with it!!! THIS IS A MOTHER***KING OUTRAGE!!!!

  3. Gilbert says:

he should be charged for mischievious Act. Not because we are a developing country means any one can come and do as they please. that is one lucky bastard. Get strict Belize!!!

  4. Belizean says:

Jeez, what happened to being the more sane people? You can also look at it as not being as paranoid as the Americans. So because they would do it to us, we are suppose to do it to them? …and if you answered yes, you have some growing up to do!

  5. Elgin Martinez says:

Belizean:What would you have said had it not been a prank?

  6. belizeanpride says:

our laws are like a joke to outsiders, we seem to lack alot of pride in our lwas that govern our jewel. man, this kid plays a dangerous prank we what do our laws do, welcome the kid to paradise like nothing happen jeez where is the pride in our country going to the trash can. it’s insane to do a thing like this now a days but this kid laughs and soon will blogg it on facebook or twitter as a joke and leave us looking like dumbs. why is the american embassy not dealing harshly with the individual also. it really pisses me off to see how the law works but belizeans never try this in another country cause definitely you’ll be joining the national geo series LOCKED UP ABROAD and we’ll watch your sorry @$$ in the tv show.

  7. Roy Yates says:

Hey folks back there, stop the crap. There is something call common sense and proper reasoning. I like many things about the United States, but many times law enforcement go over board, like handcuffing a five year old because he lifted stick of chewing gun from the super market. From what i saw, the police back there did the right thing. These folks are going away with some respect for the country’s police force. How many of you saw on the Internet where security at the air portin this country had a ninty five year old woman took off her napkin? Too many of you guys back there are influence by the USA for the wrong reason.

  8. William Freda says:

Our laws are not a joke,Belize has some of the most serious laws when it comes to detention you must understand that the judge saw no cause for charging this minor. This shows that Belize used sane discreation when it came to this incident Knowing how to deal with juvenile pranks and serious threats is what separated Belize from Idiological stupidity.I am proud of Belize for showing the world that we are peace loving fair people. We can’t say that about many countries.

  9. Sunshine says:

I think the whole thing was blown out of proportion and over rated. I bet you this kid learn a damn good lesson that day. She sure as hell will not try it on a plane going to the US that’s for sure.

  10. Elgin Martinez says:

Would a black kid or a kid of middle eatern descent got thesame treatement?

  11. Elgin Martinez says:

Having serious laws that are not enforced is useless. It’s like having a medication to cure an ailment and not taking the it.They should have put this idiot’s @ in jail.Every one seems to want to test our system. But who is to blame? The lame @ leaders of this Jewel.

  12. islander says:

Had a young Belizean black or hispanic male pulled this shit off on an airplane from Belize to Miami or Miami to Paris, France THAT POOR SOB WOULD BE IN GUANTANAMO BAY RIGHT NOW….

I am still not sure what to think or which side to choose… the only thing is I AM VERY HAPPY THERE WAS NO REAL BOMB.

  13. subKonshus says:

I hope that William Freda, Roy Yates and Belizean all be on the same flight when another stupid kid plays that prank again…but this time I hope the plane blows up for real….then we will bury them with common sense and proper reasoning without being paranoid about it…

  14. Knowledge says:

Another sign of how Belize bending over and taking it in the@$$….nuff said

  15. Fer de Lance says:

Belize’s laws and government is a joke. It is true what many have said on this forum that if you committed this crime anywhere else you would be prosecuted and more than likely barred from that country. The police and laws of Belize is a joke.
