Local moviemaker and awardee now distributing first production

“Cyaa Tek it Nuh More” is the locally produced movie made over the past year by a group of Belizeans who had access to a semi-functional video camera. The group entered their first production into the Belize International Film Festival 2011 and won an award for being the most promising local talent. As part of their award they received equipment to aid them in future productions. While the group prepares to make their next movie, they are also now distributing and screening their first movie around the country.

Winston ‘Brick City’ Harris, Distributor of Locally Produced Movie

“We win the international film fest in Belize, we won the award. We won equipments and we really appreciate it because we needed the equipment to move forward in our next project.”

Jose Sanchez

“You’ve had some good news with the movie you made for the film festival. What was it?”

“Well the good news is that now the movie is in the streets. So for anybody interested in seeing the movie—it’s a really, really good movie and I think all Belizeans should get a copy. If you need your copy, contact me at 633-5009. We’re going to be inside Mango Creek this weekend and P.G. So people in that area can also get a copy of it. Two more weeks from then we are going to be inside Cayo, Placencia, Orange Walk. If you are interested, you can get a copy of the movie. It’s called “Can’t Tek It No Mo” made in Belize, by Belizeans. The movie is based on a Belizean artist going through a lot of differences and difficulties in his life as an artist and later on to the end of the movie when he got caught up in crime and violence, he found out that the guy he was in a dispute with was his brother. So they squashed the beef and they ended up making a music video together. It’s just based on the lee differences that Belizeans go through every day; especially Belizean artists.”

Jose Sanchez

“You’re also starting a new project right?”

Winston ‘Brick City’ Harris

“Yeah we’re also working on the next movie right away. The next movie is based on everyday lifestyle. It named the mad beggar. It based on this guy that lives with his family, he lost his job and ends up wondering around society begging for food to feed his family and little jobs to take care of his family to send to school. That movie we are working on it right away as we speak.”
