Cop, Elvis Mai, to stand trial for extortion

Elvis Mai

It’s been a bad week for cops. Yannic Wade is under question for Carnal Knowledge of a fifteen year old girl, who gave birth on Thursday. He hasn’t been charged but another cop did go before the courts today and learned that he will have to stand trial in the October session of the Supreme Court.  Police Officer Elvis Mai has been on interdiction since allegations arose in June 2010 that he extorted money from twenty-five year old Cassandra Lino. The committal came as a shock to Mai when Magistrate Kathleen Lewis concluded that a prima facie case had been established against him. He was released on bail of two thousand dollars, which he met by eleven a.m.  Mai was initially arraigned on June seventeenth, 2010 on a single charge of extortion. Lino claims that she was stopped at the Mile three checkpoint on the Western Highway where Mai took her into the police booth and threaten to charge her for driving without a license, driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of a marijuana root and seeds. Mai allegedly demanded from her forty dollars to pay off the B.D.F. soldiers posted at the checkpoint. Lino says she agreed and promised to return with the money, but when Mai allowed her to leave she headed directly to the police internal affairs department. The officer was charged and taken before the court two days later.

Bad cops should face double the prison sentence of a civilian for any given crime.

Deep inside I have a feeling that this woman is lying and Mr. Mai should sue her. I still have confidence in the police force. I am on the road everyday, I pass check points and these officers do their job as best as they can. Here comes someone that has a vendetta and stains the names of officers and what will that earn her (her in this case).

Officers, if you suspect people are doing things that will jeopardize the safety of others, especially those consuming alcohol, do something that will create discipline. Do not negotiate with these fools because they will want to negotiate and when you do not agree you are the bad one. Detain and punish these evil minded, careless, self centered people.

    At least double.
Senior officers should face manadatory jail time.

Marco, you don´t know what you are talking about. This woman is pressing charges and she has the right to do so…I know this police officer and he is no saint to put it lightly.

marco you seems to have a bad day bro just relax and let the court deal with it, it’s nothing new we’ve seen cops do this $#!% all the time and so what, get over it, there are good ones and some are bad but maybe this one will learn a lesson.

Yeah, it looks bad against him that he let her leave without a charge, did the cops at the internal affairs department check why she was pulled over and brought in the boot, no one seems to be talking about this…did they check her alcohol or if she indeed had marijuana or a licence? why would she go there if she had none of this on her, where she could ve been charged? so if she is clean then why did she negotiate to leave? if she was clean she could ve said charge me and sue the department for lots of money for wrongful prosecution, but she is claiming she negotiated, so she is guilty…no one drives up to a check point with marijuana, drunk and with out a licence, not a bdf one atleast…so this doesnt add up…theres a lot more to this story that we ll hear about soon…

Whats up with the 15 years old girls in Belize, Women or girls? Once they start having sex…woman. At least this one accept her situation and did not throw her man under the bus. They used to have shot gun weddings for stuff like this. That done? These girls are going to be having consensual sex no matter what.. so teaching them touse contraceptives properly should sto some of the unwanted pregnancies.
