P.U.P. urges both sides to reach a reasonable settlement

The opposition, People’s United Party, meanwhile, says that in the paramount national interest of Belize, it urges both sides to arrive at a reasonable settlement to this “crippling dispute and the endless series of lawsuits and countersuits with the utmost urgency.” According to the P.U.P. in a release, the spill-off of this on-going conflict over Telemedia has caused serious damage to the reputation of Belize with prospective and existing foreign investors. The Government’s flip-flop, to first surrender and then retake the company using military force in the wake of the Court’s ruling has also brought into question once again its commitment to the rule of law and its respect for the Judiciary.

  1. Roy Yates says:

From what I know, Mr. Ashcroft can walk away from BTL and it won’t hurt him financially, but its the principle, to have someone take from you what isen’t there’s to take. Its abundantly clear of the mind set of the bunch in office that they intend to take and take, because they can get together and craft law of convenience to give the appearance of legality.

  2. Lucas says:

This is not time for press releases, it is time for action. WILL THE PUP ACT OR JUST TALK?.

  3. rod says:

come on pup take a position and quit flip flopping these are all chances for you to show leadership dont blow it

  4. blvnjah says:

THE ONLY THING LEFT FOR BARROW TO DO IS PROCLAIM HIMSELF ‘RULER FOR LIFE’.

AND IAM REALLY NOT TRYING TO BE FUNNY, BUT IS HE ACTING IN A DEMOCRATIC MANNER. CONSTANTLY CHANGING LAWS TO SATISFY HIS PURPOSE.

  5. Justice says:

Come on PUP. we need action, not words!

  6. Roy Yates says:

As I said before: And I repeat, this so-call PUP leader does not have the senese to get out of a good shower of rain. If he really understand what is taking place, what greater time to show leadership than now?By encouraging his people to create civil diobedience and demonstration across the land. The labour Union should call for a strike from the lenght and breath of the country. Transportation should shut down, Schools should close, Bring the country to a stand still and show the rest of the civilize world that you all are a people that believe in the rule of law and do not condone the action of your government.

I AGREE WITH YOU ROY YATES

but we need someone to lead and this is the time for a leader for a revolution to step up to the plate so we can support and trust who will not let us down later. but the question is who, since we need a leader not a master.

  8. belizeanpride says:

i dont trust the pup either since when they go in they’ll fix the faults of the udp mess but then screw us on something else which turns to be the same thing, nothing good for the belizean peopleat the end. i don’t believe in this two parties anymore nor trust them at all even if they promise me land or money.
