Police make bust of over fifty kilos of cocaine

A sizeable drug bust netting fifty-three parcels of cocaine was made on Saturday in the Stann Creek District. The police reported today that three Colombian nationals have been arrested and charged for drug trafficking and prohibited firearm and ammunition.  They are Alberto Bedoya, Hernan Dario O’Quendo and Yeney De Jesus Echavaria Manco of Medellin, Colombia. The bust was at a farm two miles North West of Independence Village where police found five guns and ammunition. According to reliable sources, information of the bust was initially withheld because a preliminary investigation has led police to believe that there are other quantities of cocaine in the vicinity of Independence Village.  Police would not confirm if the bust was on land or sea, but reports to our station say that it involved a boat that was seized in the haul and that the drugs were found in a icebox. You will recall that a significant haul was made in November of last year near the Bladen Reserve, in that general area, when a leer jet landed on the Southern Highway with eighty bales of Colombian cocaine.

Better get the Columbians out, becasue once they get a good foothold in teh country it will be hell to rid the country of them. Gansters run to Belize because the law and justice system is the most screwed up and lax. All these young men who are killing each other should be joining forces to get rid of the Columgians, MS13 and all the other snakes that are moving into this beautiful country and turning it into a hell on earth.

The fact that the government is discouraging foreign investors, this will be the only way to provide revenue, after all drugs money has built many communities including wonderful Miami, even Cheumal and Cancun.

I am reading these comments and it is so sad to see that people are blinded. We seem to have forgotten that it was the previous government that let in all these aliens to win an election, which they still lost. These problems that Belize is facing was inherited. I think that Belize needs to invest in more “man power” so to speak and give incentives for joining the police force & the BDF. I personally know Yearwood and other officials in the police force and they are really trying but they are overwhelmed and overworked in addition to the forces are being depleted.
