Bus owners’ motorcade of protest

The issue of bus runs which operators are facing within the transportation industry, according to officials from the Belizean Bus Association, is far from being resolved.  On Friday, a press briefing was held inside the conference room of the National Sports Council to further discuss the matter.  While a definitive solution to the ongoing crisis has not been met, the threat of industrial action by bus owners is still very much a possibility. On Saturday morning a fleet of buses, adorned with inverted Belizean flags, proceeded through the streets of Belize City in a motorcade.  The action was the latest expression of dismay by bus operators following a series of failed negotiations with the government. You would recall that during the prime minister’s quarterly press conference last Wednesday, the issue was among the topics that were discussed.  According to P.M. Barrow a solution for the problem involving the distribution of bus runs had been agreed upon by the parties affected by the sudden change and the BBA needs to abide by the agreement.
