The political future of Zenaida Moya Flowers

Zenaida Moya Flowers

In other news on the political front, Belize City Mayor Zenaida Moya Flowers as you are aware, is not running for a third term at the municipal level. Since her reinstatement into the United Democratic Party, she has had some time to consider her political future. Insiders have often considered her to be the heir to the Mesopotamia throne, but the timing of the convention along with the relations in the UDP have placed some roadblocks on that path. When News Five spoke to Moya Flowers on Friday, she made it clear that she still has her eye on future General Elections.

Zenaida Moya Flowers, Belize City Mayor

“I’m not scheduled to run in any divisions for this coming elections, but if any opens I may be up for running if at the time I fell that I would want to.”

Jose Sanchez

“So you are saying it is time to graduate from municipal elections to a general one?”

Zenaida Moya Flowers

“I feel that I’ve served two terms; I still have some months into my second term left. And it was my intention to move to national level. So yes, if the time comes, if whatever opens up, we’ll go from there.”

Jose Sanchez

“And in the meantime when the next municipal comes up, you will we see you supporting your former colleagues?

Zenaida Moya Flowers

“Definitely as a matter of fact I had said it publicly that I had no intention of running as mayor again. I was supporting councilor Willoughby, [but] he will not be running in the capacity. So I will be supporting Mister Bradley who will be running in that capacity so I will be supporting the U.D.P. slate as they go up for City Council Elections.”

Jose Sanchez

“I know most of us in the media have been expecting that we saw you being groomed by big uncle, Michael Finnegan, and he had some medical problems. Is that an area that you may be looking at?”

Zenaida Moya Flowers

“You know I wish Mister Finnegan a very long life. He is a very good friend to me, he is a mentor, he’s an advisor and so I will be right there support him every step of the way in whatever capacity he needs me to or would like me to support him. So whenever he’s ready—he’s indicated to me—whenever that time comes then I will be there.”

You are a true ICON….Good Leader….overcome affliction and endured condemnation from your very own PARTY…..but its the people that believes in you and you have 100%+ delivered your services to your City….SO MAYOR “MOYA FLOWERS” YOU WILL HAVE A GREAT FUTURE IN POLITICS…..you got my vote…..

  2. Belize City Resident says:

What services has Moya delivered to Belize City? This person has enriched herself at the expense of the residents of this city , has gotten away with it so far and so wants to continue bilking us as an area representative! She should never be allowed to run for any office again and should be made to pay back all those monies. Instead of her “get up and run” program she should be seeing that the drains are cleared as the rainy season is upon us, that the streets are fixed, that the dirty city is cleaned up but no she runs right pass all that! She is a disgrace!!

  3. JG says:

since that incident where she was accused of using city council money for her personal use, and was thrown out of teh UDP, she has barely been in the news. i mean, whether or not u are UDP or not, at least take an active role in your council. everytime teh council gives an interview, themayor is never available.

She has done lots of good things. Ms. Moya is an example of what it means to be a real woman. my hats off to her. she will win any election. Gauranteed!!!

  5. angelwithattitude says:

Zenaida is not a leader; she has not shown competence in anything. she is not qualified for municipal development and its ludicruous to conceive of her at national level!

  6. Karz says:

Ms. Moya is really a disgrace for WOMEN, as she was given an opportunity to prove that women are elegible and trusthworthy for POLITICS, but she has proven wrong. She has let Belizean women down as many discrepancies have been found during her ruling. Moya you need to step down.

Ahm, ahm, the UDP’s bench is not very deep so ahm, hence the reason in the fourth quarter she will come in for Mike in Mesop.

The aspiring psychiatrists were attending their first class on emotional extremes. “Just to establish some parameters,” said the professor to the student from Corozal, “What is the opposite of joy?”

    “Sadness,” said the student.

And the opposite of depression?” he asked of the young lady from Dangriga.

    The UDP government,” said she.

“And you sir,” he said to the young man from Belize City, “how about the opposite of success?”

The Cruffy replied, “Sir, I believe that would be Zenaida Moya.”
