$6000 fine for robbery

And while Sampson walked from a murder charge in Belmopan, he was convicted of Robbery in the Belize City Magistrates Court this morning. The father of three pleaded for lenience, saying that he had already spent eight months in prison for a murder he didn’t commit. Magistrate Emerson Banner spared him further jail time and imposed a fine of six thousand dollars to be paid by August thirty-first. The robbery occurred on August thirtieth, 2010 when nineteen year old Kadan Bowman of Santa Barbara Street was held up by two armed men. The thieves took his jewelry, a cell phone and a beach cruiser bicycle; a total value of two thousand, seven hundred and fifty dollars. Sampson claimed that at the time of the robbery, he was at home playing video games. But according to Bowman and his step-father, Jason Barrera, they immediately went looking for the assailants and Sampson returned the phone when they caught up with him on Antelope Street Extension.
