Major error on U.S. immigrant Visa program website

The United States Government runs a Diversity Immigrant Visa Program, through which fifty-five thousand persons are granted visas each year using a random selection process. A release from the US Embassy today explained that there has been a major error on the program’s website. According to the release, the selection results for the 2012 visas were erroneously posted on the website. That means that thousands of hopeful applicants around the world received notices, saying that they would be moving to the next step in the application process. But according to the Embassy, all previously posted results are deemed invalid because “they did not represent a fair, random selection of entrants, as required by U.S. Law” The entire selection process will be carried out once more, using the same batch of applications and candidates are advised that they are not required to reapply.  The new selection results are expected to be processed by July fifteenth, 2011 and will be available via the Entry Status Check Function on the website, dvlottery.state.gov.
