“Bucket” sentenced to life for killing his wife

Glenford “Bucket” Bermudez

A jealous forty year old Glenford “Bucket” Bermudez executed his wife on November twenty-second, 2007 and for taking her life, he will now spend the rest of his life behind bars. Glenford, an ex-B.D.F. soldier, was convicted on April twenty-seventh for the murder of Raquel Requeña Bermudez; the life sentence was handed down today by Justice Herbert Lord. In mitigation, Glenford’s ex-girlfriend spoke of his kind and loving nature, while he asked for leniency, even as he claimed he is innocent and that the police lied to the court. Justice Lord also stipulated that the sentence is effective today and that Glenford will get no remission for the three years he has already spent in jail. Raquel, a forty-one year old mother of seven, had recently separated from Glenford and the news of her new relationship sent him into a jealous rage. She was shot once in the head inside her taxi on the Boom/Hattieville Road and Glenford is said to have attempted suicide after killing her. Two days after his conviction, Glenford’s brother, Glenston Bermudez, joined him behind bars to serve a six month sentence. That’s because he pleaded guilty to Threat of Death and Common Assault upon two jurors that found his brother guilty of murder.

Time for this fool to spend some time. A few years ago he and his brother came to my business and credited some things and did not pay. They never had the intention to…time to pay the piper …your turn to be a ……. while I go to sleep in my nice warm bed!

At least he will have his brother with him to help ease the way. Too many lives ruined or disrupted because of jealousy.

Glenford “Bucket” Bermudez, and his entire family is a bunch of murderers, anti-socials and uneducated barbarians not fit to live in a society with people. Don’t send the monkey to jail, execute him, because even when we send this beast to jail he will remain our enemy, tax payers pockets will burn.

The struggle for a crime free country is being fought entirely between victims, the court and the murderers in Belize, how very sad.

One out of every 50 murderers in Belize gets life; the court is not brutal, or radical enough to set its people free at any cost.

I do not condone what Mr Bermudez did. However i’ve got a problem with the double standard in our system.about two weeks ago the DPP could have mustered a total of fifteen witnesses to testify against Mr Bermudez and yet couldn’t subpoena a minimum of one witness to testify against Mr Humes for attempted murder.

Guess no one threatened the DPP so Justice is being served, Seem to be a genetic problem with these two fellows but they should be kept far away from each other as you never know what they will plot behind bars!

  12. Disgusted says:

In case it slipped under the radar of the media…This guy is an ex-prison officer so after a couple weeks he, will be given a privileged job and all the perks that entitles him to be out of his cell all day, and sometimes in the night at Control drinking and smoking weed with the other officers who stay on the compound at the officers’ barracks. Ask any inmate in a couple month’s time and you’ll see.
