Attempted murder cases, 16 year old charged and lifer’s case dropped

Clarence Hemmans

An argument over a basketball game almost turned fatal for twenty-one year old Donovan P. Carter on April thirtieth in the Japan area of Ladyville and today a sixteen year old minor was charged with Attempted Murder. The teen was arraigned in the Belize Family Court and has been remanded to the Youth Hostel until his next court date. According to Carter, the minor and his friends got upset after losing the ballgame and they got into an argument. He says the minor stabbed him and appeared shocked by his own actions before he ran away from the basketball court. The knife punctured Carter’s left lung and he was hospitalized for a week.

And in the Supreme Court, another case of attempted murder started and ended this afternoon. Twenty-two year old Clarence Hemmans was charged for allegedly shooting Rondale Bailey on the right leg on March twentieth, 2006. But today Bailey took the stand and informed the court that he did not want to go through with the trial for the sake of his two children and a third that’s on the way. The Prosecutor, newly appointed Crown Counsel, Kayshia Grant, had no other evidence and Justice Herbert Lord directed the jury of eight women and one man to acquit Hemmans of Attempted Murder. But Hemmans was taken back to the Central Prison because he is serving a life sentence for Murder.

Common channel 5 let’s put some more light on this one Hemmans shot Bailey back in March of 2006 that is over 5 years ago why is this case just now coming to court? Also Hemmans was taken back to the central prison because he is serving a life sentence for murder, how did Hemmans get out of prison to have shot Bailey in the first place? I can assume that Hemmans was arrested for the murder after he shot Bailey but then that would only be an assumption. Remember, My Legacy B 4 My People.

I am hoping that Hemmans get what he deserves in prison.Constant raping without condoms and a few other torture would would make his lifetime stay worth the while!

It amazes me to see so many people opposing dark tinted auto windows in Belize. It may not eliminate crime all together, but is sure as hell deter some would-be criminals from hiding after commiting a crime. The Belize polices’ duty is to protect and serve the people; dark tinted windows put them at risk. This surely will limit their ability to do their job. A suspected murderer or grenade thrower could easily hid in car with heavily tinted widows like some I see in Belize.

The proposed legislation os a good one, it should be welcomed by all Belizeans, maybe those who opose it have something to hide.

Remember what occurs behind tinted sooner or later will come to light. So avoid the temptation and clean up your windows.

Its not only about crime why they are objecting to the dark windshield,it also has to do with men and women that are duoble dipping, that folks in the old capital are know for. They can pass right in front of the main companion in a car with the side kich and not be seen.
