After charges dropped against Principal, he still can’t resume his post

Denroy Tillett

In November of 2010 we told you the story of thirty-six year old Denroy Tillett, then acting Principal of the Belmopan Comprehensive High School, who was accused of sexual assault but later cleared of those charges in March of this year. But even after two months of being cleared of the charges, Tillett has been unable to return to his former post at the high school. Today Dean Lindo, Tillett’s attorney, told News Five that his client was demoted and when he resisted, he was told to leave the premises. Lindo says the clock is and Tillett is still unsure about his job at the school.

“Up to now they haven’t given him a letter to say we have terminated your service. He kept asking for it, are you terminating my service. They said no, you said you want to leave on your own and he said no sir, that’s not how it’s going to go because he can lose some benefits if he walks off or if he was fired. The Chairman of the Board of Directors threatened him that he was going to call the police and that you know will get the police to drag him off the job but he told me that the police hadn’t come yet but the threat was made. He was told that the Ministry of Education said you go and stay in the library. Before all of this he was sent a letter telling him to report to duty on the third of May, which he did. So I got a correspondence cause I put in an appeal against the hearing that I went to cause the C.E.O. wrote him copied to me to say  what are you appealing about we haven’t fired you, you are to go back to your job.”

Lindo said he replied to the Chief Education Officer’s letter saying he was also of the view that Tillett was to return to his job and is appealing to ensure that Tillett gets back his post.
