Matthew Moore charged for murder of Andrew Moses
While the U.B. students protested the violence, one man was taken to court to face charges for one of the many murders in Belize City. It was a shock to his family and friends when twenty-nine year old Andrew Moses was brutally gunned down on March tenth, 2010. That’s because he was well known in the Port Loyola area as a humble, hard working individual who became a casualty of the senseless killings resulting from gang war that is taking over the streets of the old capital. The man police believe is responsible for Moses’ death is twenty-one year old Matthew Moore of the Kraal Road area. Moore was read a single charge of Murder before being remanded to the Central Prison until April twenty-sixth. Moses, who was employed by Minister of Works, Anthony “Boots” Martinez, was on his way home from work at around five o’clock when a lone gunman chased from to the intersection of Caesar Ridge and Ross Pen Roads. He was shot multiple times to left side of his chest, abdomen and leg; eight expended shell were recovered from the scene. Moses was the cousin of Brandon Taylor, who had recently walked from two previous murders.
