Shyne promised, but left not even a glimmer, says concert promoter

Ritchie Galvez

A lot of hype went into Saturday night’s concert billed as a pre-release album show for Shyne’s post-prison compilations. The advertisements said that there would be two Def Jam platinum recording artists that would share the stage with Shyne, who is now known as Moshe Levi Ben David since his conversion to Judaism. In the days leading to the concert, the location had to be changed from the Princess poolside to the MCC stadium to accommodate the large crowds, thousands of whom were expected to show up to see names like Wyclef, Ashanti, Nelly, Busta Rhymes, Little Kim, Rick Ross or even Rihanna. So which of them showed up? According to Po People Entertainment’s manager, Ritchie Galvez, none of them did. In fact, he himself still doesn’t know who the mystery artists would have been. Galvez says that many persons who shelled out fifty dollars each to attend the show feel cheated, and so does he because it was Shyne who made the promise and failed to deliver.

Ritchie Galvez, Promoter, Po People Entertainment

“Po People Entertainment was responsible for Black Chiney, Black Rhino, Chino and Shyne cause we paid him. Gangland was responsible for the two guest appearance and Barrington Levy which Po People paid five first class tickets for them to come. I did my part. I fulfilled everything [and] Shyne, up to now, we’re still wondering what happened.”

Jose Sanchez

“You didn’t see the shine. There was no shine at all.”

Ritchie Galvez

“Shyne did perform, he did his think because we had contract, but his part and his promises, I mean never did come through. And being ambassador, I think he owns Belize an apology or explain to we exactly what happened and noh make everything di come down pan me cause now ih look like dah me responsible and naw I can’t accept that you know, I can’t. I believed in him for so long, but I think now it’s time for me to put mi foot pan ground and say yo, this dah weh di happen and have it pan black and white so nobody can’t tell me no fool.
People now are pointing fingers at me and I just here to clear up my name that’s all.”

Jose Sanchez

“Okay they are pointing fingers at you, but what is the main issue. Why are people calling it a scam as you say?”

Ritchie Galvez

“Well you can’t blame the people because then if we di sell wah ticket and say this and that mi wah di deh, that supposed to di deh.”

Jose Sanchez

“What was promised?”

Ritchie Galvez

“All the artists I just mentioned who were there, Shyne plus the two R&B/hip hop guests artists that Shyne said was coming in and Barrington Levy. Now on Barrington Levy’s part, there was an explanation from Barrington’s Camp because his manager there were here and his people were here, but because of the situation in Miami with the airport and whatnot, flights were canceled. Even some of the artists yesterday had to wait until today to move out from Belize because no flights were available to Miami.”

Jose Sanchez

“Now, how much money did you pay Shyne to be a part of this Pre-Release Album Party?”

Ritchie Galvez

“I neva really want go to that, but I guess ah have to now right? When you add tickets and down payments and deposits and everything, we’re looking [at] nearly over fifty thousand Belize dollars.”

According to concert goers, Shyne graced the stage sometime after four a.m. Sunday morning. There was some excitement at a local club when people took pictures with a man they believed to be the hip hop heavy weight Rick Ross.  It was actually Barrington Levy’s manager, who made it to Belize. Levy, who sang on Shyne’s hit songs Bonnie and Shyne and Bad Boys, never arrived in the country.

People need to stop blame Shyne and comparing him to his father. I don’t understand Belizeans, we don’t want to support much less pay to see our own Belizean artists perform but we prefer to pay to see an international artist perform. Nobody should be complaining now, u got to see a few of the Belizean artists, Chino, Black Rhino, Black Chiney and Shyne for just $50, what more do u want? Belizeans know that they usually pay around $50 to $60 just for Black Chiney, so why are they complaining now just because the International artists were a no show. Please, give me a break, complain about something more serious than that, they had a choice and the decided to pay for a ticket and go see the show. I’m sure they all had a good time, but as the saying goes “one rotten apple spoil the bunch.” Just because the promoter is complaining does not mean that everyone feels the same way and Belizeans just need one person to strart for them to jump on the band wagon. U got more than what u paid for and satisfy for what u got, take this as a lesson for next time and stop wasting money. I’m sure many spent more than $50 on clothing, hair and accessories and they found the money for all of that. Stop blaming Barrow and blame yourselves for buyin a ticket just because u wanted to see an International artist, stop acting desperate and save your money for better things like supporting your Belizean artists.

Shyne learnt well from the politicians red n blue. I guess he has seen how the present n past governments take us for jack*#*es. They take the best of this country for themselves n their friends n families. I cannot believe that some of us still believe one party is better than the next. We continue to be taken for fools from everyone who can. I sympathize with the promoter n hope it’s a learning experience. He sounds genuine. Shyne is using Belize and anyone with two cents brain can see this. But as one blogger said, he better be careful how he burns his bridges!

Islam is the religion of choice for most blacks that are unfortunate to get sent to prison in the United States of America, this guy chose Judaism because he know that Jews are very influential in the USA and some day one of them will get him back into USA; simple as that. That so call music he belches is nothing but trash. For those of you who disagree with me, take a look at how many the RAPPERS dies horrible death. The young man need to pay more attention to positive vibrations. How many of you have seen the picture of young women socializng in Israel with M16 hanging on their shoulders?

  6. Joe McGuire says:

Oh the shame Shyne has brought on us Belizeans, the man is already being featured on sites that get millions of hits per day including thisis50.com and about his story of how he fooled the Belizeans.

Nigel need to shut his face, he is obviously an incompetent businessman, and should stick with a nine to five instead. Take responsibility for your actions, I don’t want any nore excuses.

The black man blames everyone else for their problems in the Belizean society, never really taking much responsibility for anything. Every day the GOB is blamed for no jobs, no money, etc and yet even in the hard times Hundreds of people managed to come up with fifty dollars each to go see a gangster on stage, who never even bothered to show up. Who is really victimizing who in Belize, the people or the GOB?

QUOTING 50 cent: Why do you think Hitler tried to exterminate the dirty Jews?

50 Cent you are an idiot, so shut up.

Please don’t forget “SLAVERY”. It was not Hitler, but people who looked like him that tried to exterminate the dirty ……. as well, so shut the !@#$ up.

Cant you see wat Barrow is doing to our country? Slowly have us tear EACH OTHER APART while he sit back and acts like he cares. Agreed that PUP aint good either but hey they kept crime rates lower in the past than now. Sad to say If this keeps up Belize wont be a place that ANYONE wants to go to.

it is amazing to see how much free time “CRUFFY”have debating over insignificant BS.The time everyone spend worring about someone who clearly don’t give a rats @$$ about “THE YOUTHS OF BELIZE”should be spent raising funds and coming up with a solution on how to make our “YOUTHS”more progressive and self sufficent.Obviously this guy is a very important topic of conversation but how and what does he bring to our youth who are in desperate need of knowledge, there are the future leaders of our country and if we do not prepare them to lead the country in the future in a better way we will still be talking about Dean Barrow and the royal family years to come.Black people need to rise up and wise up stop wasting precious time talking about a stupid @$$ concert with fraudentlent people because when push come to shove everybody pointing fingers at each other and will that refund any money in your pockets?PLEASE LETS PREPARE OUR YOUTHS FOR THE FUTURE AND COME UP WITH A SOLUTION ON HOW TO BETTER SERVE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
