Asst. Supt. of Police, Jeffrey Martinez, Guilty of Manslaughter

The trial of Assistant Superintendent of Police Jeffery Martinez, who was accused of causing the death of a fifteen year old Camalote resident concluded in the Belmopan Supreme Court today. Martinez hit Felicito Chun and twenty-one year old Vitalino Chun as they crossed the Western Highway between miles forty nine and fifty on May nineteenth, 2007. Martinez was heading from San Ignacio to Belmopan. In court, ASP Martinez claimed he was not behind the wheel when the accident happened and no eye witnesses were brought to testify that he was. According to Martinez, the driver was Glenford Hill, who fled the scene when the fatality occurred. After deliberating, this evening a jury found Martinez Guilty of Manslaughter but reserved sentencing for a future date.

  3. Elgin Martinez says:

    Have some integrity Mr Martinez..What kind of example are you to the Belizean people?Not having an eye witness to testify also doesn’t justify your actions.

  4. Disgusted! says:

    3down and counting!!!!!!! put him in isolation with the bdf soldier and the other dog that got convicted last week and I hope they are stalked , threatened and tortured to the point where they can’t even go outside for recreation. I feel absolutely NO REMORSE for anyone who kills in cold blood. DIE DOG!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Maureen Elijio says:

    We all know that justice will prevail but my thing is why all the name calling? First of all lets join hands to pray for the deceased and his family.There is such thing that is called an accident and it means not intentional.Give me a break you all,I know this man is remorseful because he is a human being and he has a heart. Don’t call a haman being a dog. This can happen to you,your next door neighbor,your priest,your parents or your grandma.Don’t be the one to judge this man,leave everything to the good Lord. Remember nobody will kill someone with a vehicle intentionally. This is an ACCIDENT. Give me a break. Accidents happen not by choice.

    A humanbeign sa ys;
    The person who called this man a dog.I don’t know him,but your comment is so silly.Look at yourself.You have two hands and two feet just like him.If he is a dog therefore you are one too.I surely don’t think if a sensible or an educated person will call or refer to another person a dog.Come on people. An accident is not intentional.Noone will intentionally end another person’s life with a vehicle.What do think with.Do you know that there is a God?I just hope that nothing will ever happen to you.Who knows.Yours might be worst.Becareful what you say.God bless you.

    Former co worker says;
    I know Mr.Martinez. He is one of the few honest policeman in the department.He is kind ,polite ,understanding and most of all,he knows how to talk to people.Mr.Martinez would never kill a fly worst a person like himself.Judging and condeming him like that is totally wrong.You who don’t him will say $#!% about him.I know a lots of policemen can say this about him.Some of you people are so irritating and are like pain in the ——-.I Know of some officers who don’t like him because of his honesty.I REMEMBER working with this man in San Ignacio when certain things happen and he didn’t want to participape in it.The other policemen got angry because he crampped their style.When those policemen want to do any mischief at that time, Mr.Martinez was not included.I know what I’m talking about.The person who say ugly things about him and call him a dog,becareful.Yours might be well on it’s way.Hope you will be able to handle it.Think before you talk.

    Glenford Hill will pay for what he did, he’s a coward to face up to what he did. He should be shame to Mr. Martinez something like that and he called him his friend. What a friend Hill is. God is watching Hill. Be careful.
