Machete war in Cristo Rey Village leaves 3 injured

We reported earlier about a brawl in Progresso Village, and while that was nasty, further north in Cristo Rey Village, Corozal, a machete war early Sunday morning left three men injured. Police have since found out that twenty year old Richard Cantun was along with eighteen year olds Dennis Villatoro and Henry Pena as well as seventeen year old minor. The group was socializing in front of a liquor store when two other men, Marino Uh and Aureilo Cobos arrived on bicycles armed with machetes and an argument ensued between Pena, the minor and Uh. When it was all over, Pena had been chopped on the left thumb, the minor had cut wounds on the left hand and waist while Uh’s left foot was completely amputated. Police have detained four of the men while Cobos is on the run and Uh is hospitalized.

For Marino Uh, the story proves the old proverb: Live by the sword, die by the sword.

The boys in the city keep shooting each other, the fools in the villages keep chopping up each other ober “beef” and we are talking about having the gang members work in the villages.. .. God help us because we sure as hell are not trying to help ourselves.

  4. BZNinCALI says:

That was over beef, not ober.

Alcohol should be banned from certain places or villages of Belize. Ignorance combined with the power of alcohol usually leads to very familiar bloody slash scene.

The foolish and cruel notion that a bunch of anti-socials can actually get together to socialize in public has sent more men to the grave yard, the court house and the un-employment line in Belize.

hahahahahaha!!!!! sorry to laugh but it seems from this short story that Uh and Cobos’ plans back fired on them, lol sorry I know it’s not funny but hey!

well, that is not the truth story and Jesus Mario Uh is afraid to tell the truth story . the police shoould invest it . The gangers of nine are not the first time involved in doing this they have being around stealing and chasing casino works from the cutoff. It is unfair that some of them are out and two of them run to Mexico by the river. This can happened to any one in the village but people from the village are afraid to tell the truth story. Three years ago man by name Cesar Uh was chopped and he almost lost his live and the police didnot do anything.

Police invested, do your jobs that why the government paid to do the jobs

    thanks

Lock them all up, and close the bar down as no doubt the 17 year old minor wasn’t drinkin ‘Ideals’!

The law should be changed and enforced that any knife or blade carried in public must be sheathed with a locking strap or clip. If not, classes as an offensive weapon, with the carrier liable to being charged both for carrying one (same penalties as unlicensed firearms), and being ‘equipped to commit a violent offense’.

Might sound harsh, but each machete carried by a drunken/high & enraged person is a ‘chopping’ just waiting to happen. In this case, the aggressor lost a leg, but in most cases, somone loses their life. Prevention is better than the cure.

Yes, people need machetes to work, but at night???

Won’t happen though, only poor people are doing it, so their crimes go unpunished. Most victims are also por, and poor people don’t count. Election time soon, and their services to the PUDP will be required, and their votes – again!
