Groundbreaking in Belmopan for Methodist High School

Many schools are products of the church-state system. On Monday in Belmopan, the Methodist Mission broke ground for its first high school in the capital. The Minister of Education Patrick Faber, pledged twenty-five thousand dollars to the school’s building fund. The following interview and footage comes courtesy of the Government Press Office.

Representative, Methodist Church

“It is our hope that today will be the first of many days to come where we lay a solid foundation for our youths in trying to set a new course, where there is the need for a new course and chart new water. A different level of education—one that will equip them to serve in this century and find their niche in society by being productive and responsible.”

“It is a pleasure for me to be here on this very special occasion of the groundbreaking for this new high school. You know I say to people that it is a pleasure working with partners that are supportive and that contribute to the goals and objectives that we are aiming towards. And I want you to understand that that is the key reason that I am here—that the project that we are starting today is completely and perfectly in alignment with our objective as the Ministry of Education. We have identified creating more high school spaces and creating more opportunities for young people to go to high school as one of the top priorities of this nation. And it helps when the partners that you’re working with have that kind of understanding and have that initiative to work closely with you to accomplish the things which you are setting out to accomplish.”
