Hit and Run victim wants help identifying vehicle driver

We told you earlier about a fatal traffic accident in Ladyville, but a city resident needs your help to find the driver that knocked him off his bike and kept driving. The hit and run happened in the vicinity of the Swing Bridge where it meets Queen Street shortly after ten on Saturday night.  Delivery man, Wilhelm Audinett, says he was knocked off his bike and that the offending vehicle did not stop to render aid.  Slightly injured but with a badly damaged bike, Audinett says the incident has “crippled” him in terms of making a living.  Now, he’s asking your help to identify the driver of the vehicle.

“I was riding coming off of Swing Bridge into Queen Street. A black pickup, I think dah Ford Ranger black pickup, hit me and knock me off of my bicycle and don’t stop.”

“And you were where in reference to Queen Street itself? Where were you?”

“Marelco Building, at the junction of North Front Street and Queen Street side.”

“And did you see how the vehicle came from? Was it straight off the bridge?”

Wilhelm Audinett

“No ih come from up North Front Street into Queen Street. When he swing into Queen Street, ih just knock me off mi bike and ih don’t stop, just gone up Queen Street, pass the station and went about ih business.”

Marion Ali

“And you are asking for help?”

Wilhelm Audinett

“I di try fi ask the public to help try identify the number of the license plate of the vehicle.”

Marion Ali

“You didn’t get it?”

Wilhelm Audinett

“I didn’t get it because I was unconscious a little bit.”

Marion Ali

“You suffered injuries?”

Wilhelm Audinett

“Only mi foot di pain me a little.”

“So if you manage to track down this driver, what will you want out of it?”

Wilhelm Audinett

“I need him to replace my bicycle because the bicycle is totally wreck.”

Marion Ali

“Does the incident now inhibit you from working?”

Wilhelm Audinett

“Yes ma’am because the bike dah weh I use to work pan. I am a messenger for people. I go and buy and so and different things right.”

If you are able to help Wilhelm Audinett you can reach him at 661-2852.  Audinett says he did file a report with the police but he was told that unless he can provide the vehicle’s license plates, they can’t trace the driver.

    10 at night and riding without a light, is that not a traffic offence. what happen to Min. Singh’s quality of life program..dead before e bawn!!!!
