The 5 Shoman Murder Conspirators found Guilty!

The five men who were on trial for conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit robbery upon the Shoman family of Belize City have all been found guilty.  Miguel Mayorga, Eswin Rosales, Carlos Juarez, Jose Cordova and Cesar Aldana will be sentenced on March tenth.  Mayorga was also found guilty of two counts of keeping unlicensed firearms and two counts of keeping unlicensed ammunition, while Aldana, was found not guilty of the same charges.  On Monday morning, trial judge, Justice Adolph Lucas, directed the nine-member jury to acquit Rosales, Juarez and Cordova of the charges.  The plot to rob and murder the family of Jose Shoman was revealed early on the morning of Saturday, December thirteenth, 2008 when one of the conspirators had a change of heart when he discovered the heinous plot.  He became the chief crown witness against the rest of the men.  The only accused who did not face trial is Francisco Martinez, the alleged mastermind of the plot, who goes by several aliases.  He absconded to Mexico and sits in a jail awaiting trial for other offences he allegedly committed in that country while on the run.  The prosecution has indicated that Martinez still faces trial in Belize if he is ever released. Martinez had allegedly convinced the men to take part in the plot after he and Aldana were fired for stealing.  He and Rosales were represented by Hubert Elrington while the rest were unrepresented in court.  Yohhahnseh Cave was the Prosecutor.

If Shoman was an ordinary, common member of the public, these guys probably would’ve been acquitted but money talks and b$ walks. All Belizeans are entitled to this same fair justice. Now that these bastards have been convicted, I hope they melt the key while they rot in prison.

  2. Darren says:

He paid the jury lol lol. Normally it is difficult for my Belizean jurors to find some one guilty so I guess the intened victim greased a few palms so that the jurors do what they are supposed to do..that is send criminals to jail.

  3. K9 says:

  4. soldier says:

The shomans really get fast justice, thats how with the rich in belize, how many poor families in belize have lived the same situation as the shomans, and nothing is done, why?because they are poor, and the shomans are rich,

  5. jd says:

  8. BZNinCALI says:

While it is good to know that our jurors are willing to convict, I would like to see the same thing happen when the victims are hardworking Belizeans.

  9. corf says:

@ soldier, thats how the justice system works all over the world. Not just in Belize. The rich always get their way. Money talks and bulls%^t walks. We see it on America news everyday but in all fairness, these guys were wrong. They tried to kill an entire family so lets just look beyond the name and be happy that they were found guilty. Every bad name that the justice system gets,is well deserved but its sad that from now on ,its damn if they do… and damn if they don’t.

  10. Al says:

There should be celebration, it has been a long time since a high profile case like this got a guilty verdict. This is a step in the right direction. I hope the keep them locked up so tight that there is not escape possible.

  11. Earl Grey says:

YEAH……..5 more for THE PRISON FARM………there THEY CAN EARN THEIR KEEP and PROVIDE FOR THE REST OF SOCIETY…… no cost to ax-payers.

  12. Belizean says:

As a person who knows this family personally I can attest to the goodness and kindness of these people. They have helped many people and children in Belize looking for no recognition or recompense. Truth is nothing truthfully bad can be said about Jose, Malachi or family. They certainly did not grease the palms of faith to have this blood bath not take place it was an act of God that helped them through this ordeal. And if one wants to wage war against a man protected by God then you are doomed to fail. Furthermore the nine jurors can now be witness to the unbiased criticism of some by knowing full well that they were not paid to find these thugs guilty. The Shamans’ are loved by their friends and we are all thankful that no harm was done to this family.
