Child tied up during home invasion; parents were not at home

A young boy is traumatized following a home invasion on Wednesday morning.  The boy’s father, a tacos vendor, told police that he and his wife left their two children, a boy and a girl at their Orange Walk home around four on Wednesday morning while they went to sell tacos.  That was when two men entered the house and proceeded to tie up the eight year old, blindfold him, and steal household appliances worth around five thousand dollars.  The men also stole a Belizean passport belonging to Enrique Garcia before leaving.  They never harmed the girl who was asleep in another room.  The boy was discovered by the family housekeeper who arrived later that morning.  Orange Walk police have detained several men for questioning.

There seem to be a number of these cases of children left at home alone. Earlier this month or may be the end of last month a single woman was arrested and her children taken away because she briefly left the kids in the house to fend for them. If I recall correctly it was in the evening.

Now this couple did a similar thing by leaving the kids in the early hours of the morning to go make money. I hope they are treated in the exact manner as that woman. This couple could have decided between themselves for one of them to stay with the children. We could have been reading a very horrific story of the children being brutalised and murdered. Some parents in Belize really need to rethink there parenting skills and their responsibilities as parents. Luckily this story spoke only of material losses and hopefully this little boy will have a full recovery of his ordeal.

Geez when will people learn not to leave their kids unattended like that.

  3. Justice says:

I am not an advocate for leaving children unattended no matter where yet I can see that the parents need to provide for them. It is a hard lesson and if they have to go together the the children should e taken with them in the car if they have one.

Here is a concept: people should be able to live in Belize without having to experience this sort of trauma.

What I am trying to say is that even though leaving young children at home alone is not and should not be encouraged, the problem was not that the children that were left alone the problem is that home invations have become way to much of main stream. Read the above comments only focussed on the fact that the children were left alone and no mention that home invasions should not happen in our country. Are we at the point now that we are becoming too acceptiong of ths sort of occurences in our country?

Look on the bright side , now the child can be a man now ! He knows what life is all about, and hopefully one day can apply the lesson learn ‘t . I don’t see any thing wrong, I love to get tied up now and again .

ONE OF THEM SHOULD HAVE STAYED WITH THE CHILDREN…………
