Mother of missing teen begs for her return

kadisha saragossa

There has recently been an increase in missing persons reported on the police blotter, but they are often followed by updates that the persons have returned home. That’s with the exception of cases like Janessa Jones, who was found murdered or Matthew Gonzalez who hasn’t been found at all. Tonight a Belize City mother is hoping that her sixteen year old daughter, Kadisha Saragossa, will be one of those who make it home safely. According to Andrea Saragossa, Kadisha left home after five on Thursday to visit a friend and her boyfriend. Considering her age, many might assume she just ran off with her boyfriend, but even he has been unable to reach Kadisha since she left his apartment that night. Andrea came to our studios today to make a plea to the public to contact her if they know where her daughter might be.

So who was actually looking out for this child?

Free to hang out with her boyfriend until she is ready to come home on a school night no less. I believe the mom when she says this child had no reason to run away, I would have loved her as a parent, fortunately I had one that would have taken her medicine & her stick & whooped my @$$ all the way home the first time I parked my behind at some man’s apartment. Her boyfriend probably having gotten his, did not care who she gave sloppy seconds, he was minding his business.

I wish this child well & hope she is found alive.

A teen, has a boy friend, seem like she had most things going for her, so this cannot easily be checked off as a run a way teen.
The boyfriend was the last one to have seen her alive. Yet someone text her and she left in a taxi, went to buy a phone card, took another taxi and then disappeared into the night.
Police can trace her number to find the place where she might be, but I suppose even after four days they are still willing to go another day before anything is being done in this case.
There is a big chance that there is still the same or another serial killer in Belize. A few years ago some girls went missing and then found murdered, the killer of those girls were never found. The murders stopped for a few years, but then people start going missing again, and even found murdered. What is even sadder about this is that there is no forensic lab; or medical detectives in Belize who can actually solve any of these cases.
    Good luck Miss Saragossa.

BZNinCALI, we live in society where kids are free and are allowed to date as a teen, which is normal in modern countries. Belize has a high statistic of teenagers pregnant or had children, and why is that so? It is so because Belizean mothers do not trust their daughters to make good decisions on their own, it is so because Belizean people look down on a teen with a boyfriend.

The result is the reality you now have in Belize, Belizean daughters feel they have to lie and hide their boyfriends from family to avoid shame or put-downs, and when they become pregnant they hide that as well till it’s too late.
Belizean mothers need to educate their daughters about sex and protection, be your daughter’s best friend; you can only achieve that by building a trusting relationship with her.

If I had parents that beat the crap out of me, my entire life would have been different today. It is that same only traditional thinking that set Belizean apart from the rest of the world.

Stop beating our daughters, love them instead.

  9. BZNinCALI says:

@Maddy, I was a teenager & allowed to date @ 16 in Belize City, what I was not allowed to do was hang out at a man/boyfriend’s apartment unsupervised as a 2nd form student , we had a curfew. Back then, boys knocked on our doors & our parents not only knew who they were, they knew their parents. Young men walked us home, they didn’t have their way with us & sent us home. Sexuality is a part of who we are but we also need to be disciplined, we cannot have any child running the streets at all hours of the day & night. Not only do we have people justifying raping them(el alcalde blamed the 15 year old who was raped on her school campus), there were about 6 shootings in this area in the last two week, if we as parents are not looking out for our children, who will?.

I have openly discussed sexuality & birth control with my children, all of whom are now adults but when they were in school, their education was a priority & as a parent I intervened when I saw them being pulled in a direction that was contrary to their development. I live in California, I do not have the option or desire to beat my children all the way home if they chose to stay out so I stayed involved in their education from preschool through college & was hands on in their extracurricular activities & made sure they knew what was expected of them & it made a difference. Allowing our children the freedom to roam & providing them with birth control may prevent them from becoming teenage parents but it also opens them up to being misused by adults who have preyed on children in our country for as long as I can remember. Knowing my Mom would show up with her stick was incentive to get my backside back home at a reasonable hour. At 16, I had already graduated from High School & can look back with gratitude that my mother demanded that we read every day(I still do) & that having a child until I could afford one was out of the question because she was not raising grandchildren.

We need to stop allowing Tom, Dick & Harry to come into our homes & mounting our children & trying to pass it off as progressive thinking. My daughters & I have also had the opportunity to live, work & attend schools outside of Belize & the United States & managed to not to get knocked up as teenagers. I have three daughters Maddy, two are single, the eldest is married to a doctor, I may not be their best friend but I am their mother, my husband & I are the best advocate & cheering section they will ever have.

Seems like WE NEED A WHOLE SYSTEM OF SOCIAL EDUCATION……………..

    AND………..

Television is a good medium FOR THAT.

  11. Belizeandaddy says:

I hope to God that she returns home safe and unharmed but in Belize it’s hard to tell…The first thing people look to is the mother saying she is irresponsible or neglecting her child but on the other hand in some cases especially in this day and age it is better to allow a controlled dating situation in Belize…Otherwise the said problems of child pregnancies, disappearances, abuse, and a list full of things are far more likely to happen…The only thing I will say I feel went wrong in this situation was the lack of restricted supervision and the age differences…Andrea I feel for you and you know the entire family is behind you…I’m praying and hoping that you get your young daughter back home safe…And to all those out there looking on and following this story please come together to put a start to the end of this nonsense in Belize…We have got to start somewhere to restore our beautiful country back to it’s golden day…

  12. Queen Marine says:

I wish the girl to return safely home …and as for the mother shame on you .I would even want to appear on the television if I was you.

What kind of parent are you the girl shouldn’t even be allowed to have a boyfriend and worst yet visit him at his house.

    SHAME SHAME on you MOM

  13. vigilante justice 316 says:
