Investigation into allegation of last minute registration of voters prior to U.D.P. Corozal Bay convention

We told you on Monday of allegations made that the Elections and Boundaries Corozal office was kept open past its usual hours on the night before the UDP convention in Corozal Bay. The charge was that last minute registrations were facilitated to sway the vote in favor of the incumbent Pablo Marin. Tonight we can confirm that an investigation has been launched by the Elections and Boundaries Department to determine why the office remained open, but before we get into those details, here’s what David Akierman, the campaign manager for the challenger, Mayor Hilberto Campos, had to say at the convention this past Saturday.

David Akierman, Campaign Manager for Mayor Hilberto Campos

“Honestly, I have been very disappointed as to what had occurred since Friday. Well Friday we had an incident where the Elections and Boundaries was still operating at seven thirty in the night with people inside when that should be closed at seven.”

“Doing what?”

David Akierman

“Well I guess registering people and you know that for me isn’t pleasant.”

Marion Ali

“And you are alleging that it was Mister Marin that…

David Akierman

“No I am not alleging it’s Mr. Marin. I am just saying that the election and boundaries was operational and no public notice was on that.”

News Five contacted the Chief Elections Officer, Dorothy Bradley, who explained that there was no formal complaint about the late hours. She is investigating, however, because an employee asked to keep the office open late that night, but her request was denied. According to Bradley, the employee wanted to work on a backlog of registrations and stayed behind without permission. Passersby saw the office open and went in thinking that their applications would be facilitated, but Bradley says the employee had no access to the Elections and Boundaries Database. The employee has since applied for and was granted vacation leave for the duration of the investigation.

‘i neva know that registrations or transfers are allowed during the month of january etc? I believe it is in the month of july and august that transfers are allowed no? another thing how will the elections and boundries commision investigate its own corrupt practises? shouldn’t it be a separate dept\ comision of inquiry to do the investigation ? lol that is a shame let E no happen like the airport\immigration scandals involving CUSTOMS,IMIGRATION officers & the ministry a defence under mister carlos perdomo looks like the investigation just disappeared nothing we hear more about it -because definately some one bigger in government is responsible for all this corrupt DEALLINGS , its just swept under the rug. so if this currupt things are going on we can imagine what more will be done now on.. to general elections blood will pour within the UDP candidates lone d fight for power and that shows us that they are more than GREEEDDY for power than to help the country and its people. also not only czl bay should be investigated but also Orange walk esta division…many people were last minute transfered to mek lany burns win the convention…but I know it won’t happen because it is GAPY vega {DPM]involved in it also ..lone hipocrites..no worry people they will be looking for u againg because they will begg uno fi ur votes and den forget uno for a next 5 years..and if them come with money TEK IT and kiked fi dem !@$$..because wen time come we will end up paying more TAXES. we will still have fi pay for wat is OURS. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
