Clean up begins on Cesar Ridge

While the Ladyville residents struggle to rebuild a cleanup campaign is taking place in the city. Over the weekend members of the Police Department and Belizeans for Justice literally lent a helping hand by digging into the loads of mud and garbage that washed up in the Cesar Ridge area. The volunteer workers, equipped with boots and gloves, spent hours shoveling and picking up debris, piling it into wheelbarrows and making countless trips to a waiting dump truck. And while some good old fashioned manual labor did the trick in parts of the neighborhood, there were some areas where the volume of waste required the use of back hoes to get the job done. Before this initiative, families in the area were assisted with garbage pickup while they cleaned debris from their yards. A back hoe and truck were provided to gather the garbage as it was dumped along the street side.
