Three car pileup on Central American Boulevard

In a developing story just into our newsroom, in a three-car pile up on Central American Boulevard two persons were injured at about six o’clock this evening. Reports are that the driver of this white van slammed into a black car, sending it careening into a lamp post. The white van then crashed into a blue car at the stop light. The area was plunged into a blackout when the high voltage wires were ripped from the lamppost. News Five spoke with an eye witness to the incident.

Cpl. Steve Gordon, Volunteer Battalion, B.D.F.
“I’m the security guard right here at Henry’s Bar and as I was looking out, because there was a glass window in front of it. I heard a bang down the street at first and when I looked out I saw the white van hit this black vehicle and knocked it into the lamp post and they went into the back of the next vehicle. At the moment that happened the traffic light was red and the young man came out of the vehicle and ran down Vernon Street.”

Marion Ali
“That’s the white van.”

Cpl. Steve Gordon
“Yes, that was the white van.”

Marion Ali
“So he was speeding?”

Cpl. Steve Gordon
“Yeah he came with a speed of about forty miles per hour and the traffic light was red.”

Marion Ali
“And then he slammed into…”

Cpl. Steve Gordon
“Yes, and it’s dangerous because he could have killed that lady. One of the females hit her head on the windshield and I had to go there to try to assist them.”

Marion Ali
“She’s at the hospital?”

Cpl. Steve Gordon
“Yes, I called the ambulance and they came and took her to the hospital.”

Marion Ali
“How did she look?”

Cpl. Steve Gordon
“Her forehead is swollen but she looks like she’s gonna be okay.”

Unconfirmed reports are that the white van was stolen less than an hour from a business establishment on Freetown Road. At last report its driver was seen fleeing down Mahogany Street.
