Christine Perriott seeking legal advice over firing

Story PictureChristine Perriott is out of City Hall, but not necessarily out of Mayor Zenaida Moya’s hair. The former Human Resources Director confirmed today that she has received her termination letter and she went in to clear out her desk this morning. But it is not over as Perriott says that she is reviewing the letter and will get advice on it as the stated reasons for her dismissal are not factual. Last Friday Moya asked Perriott to resign, Perriott refused. And what followed was a public spectacle of accusations of lies and allegations between the two unionists.

“It has that I was not performing and insubordination. Of course I have to look at that because that’s not going down on my record.”

Kendra Griffith
“How will you go about if you go about contesting it, at least the reasons for your termination? How will you go about doing that? At what avenue?”

Christine Perriott
“If I contest it, it is for damages. I don’t want to go back there. I think that what I did has left a landmark. I have no qualms of leaving. I could never go back under her principles and morals, we would not survive and as is, today is a typical example and I can see how haggish one of the workers behave by slamming the doors. Now I can say that, she cannot say that. So while I have the proof, she doesn’t.”

Kendra Griffith
“So you will be taking it up in court?”

Christine Perriott
“I will address it because it is not what she said… she lied and said that the basic fact was the petition of the workers, which we all know that she…”

Kendra Griffith
“Well, she said it was bolstered by the petition. They did it as an additional thing.”

Christine Perriott
“She said that was the basic thing. The letter had no such thing, the letter had that I was not performing. And she had two things; an appraisal system and something that nobody gave me those tasks. That again there, she’s lying. For the nine months that I have been at City Council, I can name twenty-five things that I have accomplished, including the salary raise.”

Kendra Griffith
“When will you be making your decision?”

Christine Perriott
“I will consult as usual. I always make sure I get my advice. I noh rush into nothing. Everything for me is in due time. I’m in no hurry fi get afta nobody. I just like when people do the right thing, I don’t people lie about me, I don’t like when you pretend to be somebody that I would respect and then at the same time you just stab me in the back. I don’t work like that. We as trade unions, we don’t work like that. We as sisters in Christ, we don’t work like that and I have to stand for those morals and those principles.”
