Prisoner at Hattieville murdered in cell

It was not a pleasant way to die. At around 9:45 Tuesday night a warden making his rounds at Hattieville prison came across the severed arm of a man lying on the ground in front of cell number 16 on the lower floor. He found the rest of the body, that of 25 year old Osmani Guerra, upstairs, inside his cell, number 41. While at present the case may be something of a “whodunnit”, the “who” are limited to Guerra’s three cellmates: Albert Broaster, Leroy Flowers and Mark Stewart. Broaster is serving five years for burglary, Flowers five for robbery and Stewart was sentenced to 12 years for robbery. Guerra, from Orange Walk, was less than six months into a seven-year term on a robbery rap of his own. The police have been tight lipped about the case while their investigation is underway. In the meantime the three suspects have been moved into separate solitary cells. Prison Superintendent Bernard Adolphus told various media houses that such incidents cannot be prevented in a prison, which is severely overcrowded and chronically short of staff.
