Police rule Y.E.A. inmate death a suicide

Story Picture
Almost one week after twenty-two year old Jeffrey Bradley was found hanging in a punishment cell at the Youth Enhancement Academy, today the Criminal Investigation Branch announced their investigation suggests that the young man was not murdered, but committed suicide. According to A.I.P. Simeon Alvarez, Head of C.I.B., police took into consideration the postmortem which reveals Bradley died from Asphyxia due to hanging and the time factor involved. Alvarez says they do not believe Bradley could have been killed within the eight minutes after a prison warder had spoken to him after he was heard crying inside the cell. According to Y.E.A. officials there were only two other inmates inside the lockdown, but both men were in their individual cells, which were locked. Furthermore there were prison officers stationed just outside the building who police say would have heard anything unusual taking place inside. Police also tell News Five that the officer identified as Pacheco, and the man some family members speculated had been abusing Bradley was not even on the compound the day Bradley was found. Bradley’s family told News Five last week that they do not see any reason why he would have killed himself, especially since he was due to be released in March.
