Animal heads found in yard

Story Picture
If you were thinking about having a pleasant lunch this afternoon and you passed the corner of Dean and Plues Streets, you probably changed your mind. A little after eleven o’clock a resident of the area went into her yard and discovered two animal heads. She immediately called health officials and the Belize City Council. Health Inspector Mark Bernard says that they are very concerned about this situation because it could be a serious health hazard for residents of the area.

Mark Bernard, Health Inspector

“We just got a report that two of the animal heads are here. And we came along with the City Council and we will take them to the vet lab and we need to know what type of animal it is. That’s the main concern we have now. In addition to the fact that it was disposed of in this manner.

If you look when they were removing the heads you could see the amount of flies that they attracted first of all. Then there is the odor problem. When it is decaying, it is not something that smells pleasant. And in addition to that you can have the harbor of vectors of diseases notably from rats.

Our main concern is that if it was not an animal that we normally regard as fit for human consumption, we are hoping that it had not gotten into the food chain and been sold and passed on for something else.”

Up to news time it is still not known what type of animal heads were found this morning since the vet lab personnel who could make the identification were out district.
