Noemi’s mother didn’t know daughter was dead

Story Picture
Noemi Hernandez’s remains were buried yesterday at the Lord’s Ridge Cemetery, however her father, Francis Hernandez went to Police today asking if the remains could be exhumed so the family could hold a proper funeral. However during a Police press conference this evening, Mario Vernon, Head of C.I.B. said that Mr. Hernandez, who was present at the cemetery, was given the choice of disposing of the remains immediately or holding a more conventional funeral. Vernon said Hernandez opted to have the remains immediately buried. As the family and friends of young Hernandez come terms with the loss of their loved one, the teenager’s mother says she is not only coping with the tragedy of murder, she is disturbed at the way she has been treated by the child’s father and the police. She says she was not informed of the positive I.D. until 6:00 Thursday evening, well after the remains were already in the ground.

Lily Tuyul, Mother

“Anyway I ask for him and he came on the phone, and I asked him if he found my daughter and he said no, It’s not her. So in the night, the Police they came for us…my sister went with me. And then they ask me if we heard what happened? We tell them yes, different persons came and tell us and my aunt called us, but they are not sure about it. We went with them and they didn’t have anything to show me, all they did was question me. And I tell my sister they don’t have anything to tell me, they say all the evidence is in the evidence room and it is locked up. I don’t know really what clothes she was in; I only heard what clothes she was in from her father. I tell them if they don’t have a body to show me I want see anything. Then they tell me that they already buried my daughter. They didn’t inform me, nor the police didn’t inform me about my daughter. We left from there and I asked my sister to take me to his house. (Crying) When I reached back there, then I found out it was really my little girl. Cause he told me that the pants she was wearing had the note her Grandmother gave to her. I tell him it can’t be true, it can’t be our daughter.”

Tuyul had been estranged from her daughter since September when Noemi was sent to live with her great grandmother. News Five understands that a memorial service will be held on Tuesday at St. Ignatius Church at 9:00am.
