New park refurbished for St. Joseph neighbourhood

Story Picture
Though the day was hot and rainy, it did not stop some young students of St. Joseph School from coming out on Baymen Avenue for the reopening of a much needed recreation area. The triangular shaped St. Joseph’s Park, neglected for quite some time, has been given a fresh coat of paint and some necessary maintenance so children will have a place to play in safety.

Gustavo Perera, City Councillor

“The park had been in a sense abandoned for a while and the Caribbean Shores Committee under the leadership of area representative, Minister Jose Coye, saw an opportunity for us to improve the park and make it available for the kids. Particularly the kids of St. Joseph School, which is just around the corner, and so this park is actually being dedicated to the children of St. Joseph School.”

As a child Perera attended St, Joseph’s, which is one of the city’s largest and most academically successful schools.
