Police urges parents to be careful about candy

Story Picture
As we speak, trick and treaters have already taken to the streets in search of free candy. However, just because it’s free doesn’t mean it’s safe. The police department is asking both children and their parents to keep an eye out for the freaks who may not necessarily be in costume.

G. Michael Reid, Police Public Relations Officer

“We would ask parents to please accompany their children, to please check whatever candies or sweets are given to the children. Unfortunately we do have some sick people out there in the society and we have to safeguard against them.”

Janelle Chanona

“As far as the safety level are there going to be extra patrols tonight?”

G. Michael Reid

“The police department is always vigilant to the protection of our people especially children so if we see there is an increased traffic out there and we are going to put more police officers on the beat. Of course we would like to remind parents that while the curfew is enforced as vigilantly as it should be, there is a curfew in effect.”

If you are under sixteen years old, legally, you can only be on the street after nine o’clock if you are accompanied by a parent or guardian.
