Relocations in Bootsville, Prior to and After Fire

The late evening fire that eviscerated the home of Melanie Adolphus has displaced her family, but if there is a silver lining on that dark cloud it’s the fact that she will be relocated to a property of her own in the weeks ahead.  That’s because, like two other homes on that strip of land, Adolphus’ abode was erected on private property belonging to another individual.  While work had already commenced on building a road in that area of Bootsville, the fire has only served to expedite the process.  This morning, News Five caught up with Area Representative ‘Boots’ Martinez who explained the scope of works taking place in that corner of his constituency.

“It’s the continuation of the south side project, so we continue to put in the streets and fill the lots, so we will be building houses in this area for people who are on the list.”

Isani Cayetano

“How many folks are we looking at in terms of those who will be relocated to this area?”

“They only have three relocations from here, but we will be building around ten to twelve houses in this area.”

Isani Cayetano

“And so Ms. Adolphus is expected to be back in a new house by the end of April?”

Anthony ‘Boots’ Martinez

“By the end of April, yes, that’s for sure.  As we speak, we are clearing the lot and getting the land filled.”

Isani Cayetano

“Is there anything else you want to mention in respect of either this incident or the ongoing works?”

Anthony ‘Boots’ Martinez

“Well, to me it’s just the continuation of work.  I am the type of representative never to toot my own horn, and overall, you know, this whole area, the complete area was developed properly.  I think that’s the proper way to do a housing project.  This entire area was developed by me as the area representative and we built all the houses or we would say ninety percent of the houses in this area.”
