Charles Itza Recovering from Gunshot Wound in Corozal Shooting

Joseph Myvett

Earlier this week, a resident of Corozal Town came under gunfire during an attempt on his life.  Charles Itza reported to police in that jurisdiction that he was riding a bicycle in an area of town when he was accosted by a lone gunman who shot him to the right leg.  Additional details have been provided by the Commander of the National Crimes Investigation Branch.

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch

“On Tuesday last, sometime around 8:45 pm, Charles Itza reported that whilst riding his bicycle on Santa Rita Road, he was attacked by a masked male person who fired shots towards his direction.  As a result, he received one injury to his right leg.  He is in a stable condition and at this point in time, even though we are following several leads and we have interviewed him, he does not have any named suspect.”

“Does he have any ideas as to who would want to hurt him?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“No, we do not know that, however, I can say to you that he is known to the police.”
