Foreign Minister Says Vote “NO” and Guatemala Might Invade

Wilfred Elrington

There have been ongoing lectures in different parts of the country and from what has been detected, there seems to be an anti-I.C.J. sentiment.  Minister Wilfred Elrington is known to be very candid and has received a lot of heat for his comments relating to the Belize/Guatemala dispute. For instance, in September Elrington stated that there is a distinct possibility that if Belize votes no to the ICJ, the whole country will go down. In fact, he mentioned that Belizeans would become refuges if Guatemalans come across. If you think that the possibility of this happening is not real, Elrington believes otherwise.

Hipolito Novelo

“Sir but you’ve said that if Belizeans vote no on April tenth Guatemalans will come over and invade, and take over Belize and we will become refugees.”

Wilfred Elrington, Minister of Foreign Affairs

“That is not what I said.”

Hipolito Novelo

“Some say that that statement might be too farfetched.”

Wilfred Elrington

“That is not what I said. What I said is that that can happen. That can happen because none of us know the future.”

Hipolito Novelo

“But the possibility is minimal of that happening…”

Wilfred Elrington

“No, no. I don’t discount anything. I have seen things in my lifetime that I thought would never had happened. What I am trying to do is to ensure we as government do all in power to inform and educate the Belizean people as to all the possibilities so that the know when they make their decision on April tenth what the consequences can be.”

“Invasion to you in a possibility?”

Wilfred Elrington

“That’s always a possibility. No country has military force for gain. You don’t have these things just because you like guns and militaries establishments and institutions. You have them to defend your own territory and they have been used as we see in the case of Russia and North Korea and the others for aggressive purposes as well.”

People forget the Politicians using scare tactics, most of them are more stupid than you. No other country will let Guatemala invade just like that. Don’t forget BIG BROTHER (USA) right in your back yard.

  2. UNCLE BENJI says:

    Scare tactic. Scare tactic.

Three blind mice, Barrow, Vasquez and Elrington. See how they scam. Guatemala will never invade Belize. Never.
