Income and Business Tax Amendment Bill Passes Third Reading

After a lengthy adjournment to discuss the matter in committee, the House resumed the session at which time PM Barrow rose to move a third reading of the Income and Business Tax Amendment Bill.

“Madame Speaker, I rise to report that the Committee of the Whole has considered the Income and Business Tax Amendment Bill 2018 and past it without amendment.  I know move the third reading of that bill.”

“Honorable members, the question is that the bill for an act to amend the Income and Business Tax Act Chapter 55 of the substantive laws of Belize, Revised Edition 2011 to make provision for a tax regime for companies engaged on certain business activities to set the rate of tax for these companies, to exempt from tax the interest and dividends from certain trade or business and to provide for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto be read a third time.  All those in favor kindly say I.”

It now goes for passage at the Senate on Monday.
